摘要： An improved rear-projection viewing screen is disclosed which is characterized by having on the viewed front surface of a lenticulated transparent substrate, a single layer having image-transmitting areas and intervening light-absorbing areas. The improved screen according to the invention includes light-scattering and photographically formed light-absorbing elements in a common binder system in the image-transmitting areas and in the intervening light-absorbing areas. The light-scattering elements provide for the diffusion of the viewed image in the light-transmitting areas. The light-scattering elements in the light-absorbing areas are effective to scatter light falling on the front surface of the screen thereby improving contrast of pictures viewed on the screen.

摘要： A video disc playback system develops a frequency modulated carrier wave in reading out the information stored in a video disc. A linear detector derives the program information from the carrier for utilization. A dropout detector, having a nonlinear characteristic particularly in the frequency range representing desired program information, develops a control signal only during operating intervals in which frequency deviations of the carrier beyond the frequency range devoted to program information indicate dropout conditions. That control signal is used to inject previously stored program information in the dropout intervals in order to accomplish dropout compensation.

摘要： An exposure chamber for exposing a photosensitive coating on the target surface of a color picture tube comprises means for supporting the face panel and an aperture mask in a parallel spaced and confronting relation transversely of the reference axis of the chamber. An optical system comprises a primary light source and a virtual light source, the latter including a collimator having a light emitter for irradiating the target surface through the aperture mask from a position offset from the center of the target. The emitter thus normally projects a nonuniform intensity distribution pattern and is surrounded by a light stop selectively masking a portion of the emitter to control the intensity distribution pattern of light impinging upon the target surface.

摘要： A potentiometer wiper assembly includes a housing with mounting means defining a plane and a rotatable resilient wiper carrying contacts extending below the plane. A stop in the housing contacts a flange on the wiper for limiting its arcuate travel. The wiper may be deflected into the housing and rotated to position the flange in overlying relationship with the stop. In this position the wiper contacts are above the plane, enabling the housing to be bonded to a substrate.

摘要： A television channel selector includes UHF and VHF tuners each having a varactor as the frequency-determining element. A number of fixed contacts on a rotary switch are respectively associated with different channels in both the VHF and UHF regions of the spectrum; also included on the switch are a pair of selection contacts. Printed on the same substrate which carries the switch contacts are a plurality of resistors which together constitute a voltage divider that has individually different junctions between the resistors connected to respective different ones of the fixed contacts. A fasttuning shaft drives the selection contacts over the fixed contacts. That shaft is detented each time the selection contacts are moved over a chosen number of the fixed contacts. A slow-tuning shaft is coupled through a gear system to the fast-tuning shaft. The slow-tuning shaft is detented in rotational increments that correspond to movement of the selection contacts, through the gear system and the first shaft, from each one of the fixed contacts to the next. The selection contacts read out a voltage from the divider which is fed to the varactors in determination of frequency. For fine tuning, the varactor control voltage is derived from a tap on a potentiometer the opposite ends of which are connected by the selection contacts across selected individual different ones of the resistors in the voltage divider.

Free electrons are drawn from the electron-multiplier and accelerated in the second section to high energies whereupon they collide with a light-emissive phosphor screen. 摘要： Method and apparatus for making light attenuating filters used in screening cathode ray tubes. A patterned coating of light attenuating material is deposited on a transparent substrate from a vapor beam emitted by a source of appropriately vaporized, light attenuating material. The portion of the vapor beam permitted to impinge on the substrate is limited by means which define a non-circular aperture of time-varying size between the vapor source and the substrate. Means for varying the size of the aperture as a predetermined function of time are also included.

摘要： A voltage-limited deflection transformer includes a tuning capacitance integrally formed therein. A portion of the transformer winding is in the form of two strips of insulated metallic foil arranged on the core such that the foil strips form the electrodes of the capacitance required to tune the transformer. An open circuit occurring in one foil results in no DC to the transformer whereas an open circuit in the other foil substantially disables the transformer. A short circuit in the foil capacitor detunes the transformer and lowers its output voltage.
