摘要： To produce chicks from hatching eggs, the eggs are incubated in a hatcher incubator. After hatching, chicks of lesser quality are screened out, and the remaining chicks are transferred to a poultry barn. During the first week in the barn, a number of chicks are lost. When the loss rate exceeds a certain value, treatment with antibiotics is usually applied. Methods and compositions for reducing the loss rate during the first week and thus the number of antibiotic treatments are disclosed. The methods include providing in the air of the hatcher incubator at least during a final stage of the incubation and hatching of the eggs in the hatcher incubator, an active amount of a pheromone composition with the appeasing effect of the mother hen pheromone. The pheromone composition can be applied in the hatcher incubator at a specific height in the form of a formulation.

摘要： A small animal veterinary incubator is disclosed with an animal holding drawer that can be inserted into a temperature controlled enclosure and removed when not in use for cleaning and disinfecting. In various embodiments the incubator is portable, is at least partly transparent, controls interior oxygen and/or humidity, can use a hose to bring oxygen into close proximity with incubated animals, can introduce water-nebulized air or oxygen into the drawer through a hole, and can include a holder for a humidity bottle that humidifies air or oxygen supplied to the incubator. Some embodiments use an adjustable or regulated lamp to warm the incubator using an infrared bulb of 50 or 75 Watts. Temperature, humidity, and/or oxygen gages or sensors can be included, and the temperature, oxygen, and/or humidity can be automatically regulated. Preferred embodiment include closable vents that can be opened to allow for ventilation when only temperature is controlled.

The device may advantageously be used for the incubation of avian, reptilian or any type of vertebrate eggs. The apparatus comprises a mechanism for holding samples individually, rotating them individually, rotating them on a centrifuge collectively, injecting them individually with a fixative or other chemical reagent, and maintaining them at controlled temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric composition. The device is applicable to experiments involving entities other than eggs, such as invertebrate specimens, plants, microorganisms and molecular systems.

The hatching apparatus for learners is provided with a hatching chamber that defines a hatching space suitable for accommodation of a hatching egg and has a viewing window. As for a hatching condition in the hatching chamber, temperature and humidity in the hatching chamber are controlled by introducing air heated by a heater and moisture generated through vaporization of water by means of a fan into the hatching chamber. The hatching egg seated in the hatching chamber is turned by an egg-turning device. The egg-turning device, the heater and the fan are controlled by a control unit, so that the temperature and humidity in the hatching chamber can be consistently maintained and the hatching egg can be periodically turned.

摘要： A poultry egg incubation method and an apparatus for carrying out the method. Eggs are initially placed in openings of substantially egg-shaped contour provided in an egg support which is thereafter placed in a hatching bin with the eggs out of contact with the bin. The bin is then placed in an incubation container or cart. For purposes of incubation the support is lowered to place the eggs in point contact with the bin so that relative movement between bin and support causes rotation of the eggs without disturbing their position within the bin. Controlled humidifying and ventilating equipment is provided for providing stable climatic conditions.
