The second member has a plurality of apertures formed therein for permitting the plurality of projections to extend therethrough when the second member is placed on top of the first member. There are also a plurality of grooves disposed adjacent an upper surface of the second member extending from an outer edge of the second member to an axially opposed outer edge of the second member for enabling a cutting means to pass completely through such preselected food product.

The transparent cake covers with a removable candle deck, which does not pierce the cake being decorated by lighted celebratory candles. The cake cover can be used without the candle deck. The sanitary cake cover is impervious to assault by normal airborne contaminants, such as dust and dirt as well from contaminated expelled breath during the act of blowing out candles. A separate removable candle deck which can be attached to or nestled securely atop the cover is removable to enable the container to be used for other food items without the obstruction of candle recesses. The flat top of either a round, rectangular or other shaped cover has a peripheral top ridge forming a flat central recess of dimensions to fit the flat candle deck.

A multilayer stack of polymeric sheets can be used in thermoforming processes to make objects wherein each sheet has substantially the same shape. The stack includes at least one sheet of a thermoformable polymer, and can include many such sheets. A barrier layer is interposed between at least an overlapping portion at least two of the polymeric sheets in order to prevent fusion of the sheets in the overlapping portion during the thermoforming process. The barrier layer can include an adhesive that adheres the sheets in the overlapping portion. In formed articles including such an adhesive, the sheets can be manually peeled from one another if a suitable adhesive is selected. The stack (and object formed using the stack) can include polymeric sheets that are not thermoformable, but are adhered to the surface of a thermoformable sheet. The sheets and objects can include multiple separable and/or peelable sheets. The stack can be used, for example, to make peelable, re-usable food service trays. In such trays, a rigid base has multiple peelable sheets adhered to at least one surface thereof, the sheets being peelable from the surface to reveal a sanitary surface amenable to food contact.
