    摘要: The present invention pertains to an arrangement, as well as a method, for fastening and fixing of first element, in the form of an implant, against the second element, in the form of bone tissue, during surgical use of a screw joint, by means of a screw with a conical head with a cone toward the screw tip, said head having an outside thread with a small pitch, which is intended to be screwed into the implant, and a main thread on the stem of the screw, which has greater pitch than the thread of the screw head, and said thread is intended to be screwed into the bone tissue, in which said first element, the implant, has a spherical hole, in which a ductile sleeve is arranged in the form of a sleeve divided into segments, flanges, and has a spherical shape that matches the spherical shape of hole, and said sleeve has a conical threaded inside shape that is complementary to the outer threaded shape of the screw head, in which screw, when tightened, can fasten the implant in any desired angle, relative to the other element, and fix the screw joint in this position.

    摘要: A bone fixation system includes a plate and a set of fixation locking screws. The plate defines a set of locking screw holes each having an internal thread. Each respective locking screw has a head with an external structure that is adapted to self-tap into the internal thread of a given locking screw hole to secure the respective first-type fixation locking screw at an surgeon-directed angle relative to the plate. This angle is defined during forcible insertion and rotation of the respective locking screw into the given screw hole. The system may also include unidirectional locking screws. In a preferred embodiment the plate and first-type of screw are made of different metals, with the plate made of titanium alloy and the screw made of cobalt chrome alloy.

    摘要: A locking mechanism assembly to allow locking of a fastener in an orthopedic implant having its axis at a variable angle relative to the axis of threaded through opening in the implant. The assembly includes a locking insert, having threads which mates with the threads of the through opening and which includes a smooth opening that forms a torque driving recess and an annular flange. A fixator has a head portion with external threads of a harder material than that which forms the through opening so that the threads of the fixator will deform the insert to lock the fixator in a desired position relative to the plate.

    摘要: A method is described to repair hallux valgus which involves a medial incision as the primary incision, mechanical stabilization of the first and second metatarsals during and after a proximal chevron osteotomy of the first metatarsal shaft, reorientation of the metatarsal segments to compensate for hallux valgus, and stabilization of the reoriented metatarsal during healing by insertion of a fixation device which may be removed later with little trauma to surrounding tissues. The fixation device comprises an elongated, relatively rigid stabilizing member of biocompatible material sized to pass from the medial side of the first metatarsal through the first and second metatarsals and out the lateral side of the second metatarsal, and two retainer members cooperating with the segments of the stabilizing member, medial to the first metatarsal and lateral to the second, adapted to prevent migration of the stabilizing member as the wound is healing.
