    摘要: A surgical instrument for use in a sinus lift procedure and methods for performing sinus lift procedures. A surgical instrument includes a shank having a body portion, a first end, an opposite second end, and a neck portion disposed between the body portion and the first end. The shank body portion defines a first longitudinal axis and the neck portion defines a second longitudinal axis. The shank further defines a head coupled with the first end. The head includes a flat proximal surface that extends radially outward of the neck portion and a domed distal surface opposite the first proximal surface. The second longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the proximal surface.

    摘要: A method of performing a sinus lift procedure comprising the use of a sidecutting drill as one step in the procedure. The sidecutting drill creates a circumferential lateral cut near the sinus floor, thereby allowing upfracturing of the sinus floor over a greater area than would otherwise be possible absent the circumferential lateral cut. The sidecutting drill includes a tip extending in a planar nonuniform manner from the centerline of said drill with one or more cutting edges located on the extended portion for cutting through tissue.

    摘要: An arrangement and an implant are provided for increasing the stress resistance of the implant arranged in an upper jaw bone. The implant has access via parts to the sinus cavity. At these parts, the implant is arranged with a convex or rounded front surface which, upon access, lifts the sinus mucous membrane, without piercing the latter, and thus forms a closed space between the parts and the underside of the mucous membrane. The implant is provided, at least at these parts, with growth-stimulating substance or substances which interact with cell-containing body fluid which penetrates or has penetrated into the space, so that new bone is formed around these parts of the implant.

    摘要: An osteotome for sinus lift procedures includes a body interchangeable with various handles. The body includes a shaft that is releasably received into the handle, and a tip portion. The tip portion may be directly utilized for ridge expansion/bone compression, or a succession of tip members may instead be received thereon to provide suitable diameter escalation to create the socket. A conduit in the tip portion interconnects with a conduit in a hydration port and a conduit in a tip member. A hose couples the hydration port to a syringe, to deliver fluid out the tip member to lift the membrane. Graduated syringe markings permit delivery of measured fluid quantities to control the amount of lift. A second hydration port is coupled to a graduated cylinder through a valve, which is opened after lifting is complete, to measure the fluid released. A loss of fluid measured indicates a sinus tear.
