    摘要: A system includes a guided munition having a housing. A first reservoir is defined within the housing holding a first chemical reactant. A second reservoir is defined within the housing, wherein the second reservoir holds a second chemical reactant configured to undergo an endothermic reaction with the first chemical reactant. A frangible barrier separates between the first and second reservoirs. The frangible barrier is configured to break under forces acting on the guided munition as the guided munition is fired from a weapon. An electronic device can be housed within the housing in thermal contact with at least one of the first reservoir and/or second reservoir for cooling the electronic device with an endothermic reaction upon mixing of the first and second chemical reactants.

    摘要: Embodiments include a heat sink cell comprising a first reservoir having a first volume of space and a first material stored in the first volume of space. The first material provides a first heat sink thermal operating range for the transfer of heat. The cell comprises a second reservoir and a second material stored in the second reservoir. A shape memory alloy (SMA) closes an opening of the second reservoir. The SMA is responsive to a temperature change of the first material or external sources to automatically open the opening so that the first material or the second material spontaneously pass through the opening to cause an endothermic reaction or an exothermic reaction between the first material and the second material to create a second heat sink thermal operating range different from the first heat sink thermal operating range. Embodiments also include a system and method of dual-mode passive thermal management.

    摘要: Safe, stable, non-toxic and recyclable cooling agent compositions comprising solid particulate compounds undergo an endothermic process when mixed with water such that the resulting mixture is useful for cooling surfaces, liquids and solids. The mixtures include ammonium nitrate in an amount of at least 45 wt % of the mixture. Total nitrogen—containing salts exclusive of phosphates are present in an amount less than 68% by weight of the composition. A phosphate salt is also present in an amount as needed to stabilize the composition against detonation. A balance of additional salts is formulated to provide the mixture with a cooling capacity of at least 240 kJ/kg of the mixture.

The device has a thermochemical system having a tank which contains a liquefied gas that, following evaporation, combines with a reactive product contained in a reactor.
