摘要： Described herein are alarm systems for suction devices for reduced pressure therapy. Alarms systems provide alerts to the patient and/or practitioner regarding the ability of the suction device to continue to provide negative pressure to a tissue region. Alarm systems comprise a sensor mechanism, which is capable of detecting the position of a slidable seal within the suction device, and generating an alert. Certain variations of alarms systems comprise magnetic field sensitive switches and/or electric switches. Other variations of alarm systems comprise rotary encoders to detect the motion and location of constant force springs, which signal the notification mechanism to issue alerts accordingly. Described herein are alarm devices configured to retain a suction device therein and to attach the suction device to a patient. The alarm devices disclosed herein detect the depleted state of the suction device and are capable of retaining the suction device in a plurality of orientations.

摘要： Disclosed are a device and a method for irrigating a urinary catheter connected to a drainage bag. The device is configured to be selectively operated in any one of a drainage state, an irrigation state, and a disposal state without requiring its disconnection from the drainage bag. The device includes a port for receipt of a syringe holding an irrigation fluid. When in the drainage state the device enables fluid from the patient to passively drain into the bag. When in the irrigation state the device isolates the catheter from the bag and enables the irrigation liquid to be introduced from the syringe into the catheter and the patient's bladder to produce a contaminated fluid and also enables the contaminated fluid to be withdrawn back into the syringe. In the disposal state the device isolates the catheter from the drainage bag and enables the contaminated fluid to be introduced into the discharge bag.

The absorbent wedge has an indicator function triggered by a chemical change or accumulation of liquid. The indicator provides health care professionals with visual feedback on the quantity and quality of the liquid being absorbed.

摘要： The present invention provides actuation mechanisms that incorporate a transmission assembly that allows the mechanisms to cause actuation of workpieces according to a plurality of transmission modes (e.g., at least one forward transmission mode and at least one reverse transmission mode) on demand. Motion, direction, and/or force can be controlled by selecting the corresponding transmission mode. The mechanisms preferably are trigger-actuated by hand (i.e., manually) to cause movement of a workpiece in a desired direction. Desired directions can be linear or nonlinear. The same hand used for trigger action can also be used to change transmission modes in many modes of practice, even while using substantially the same grip used for trigger actuation. In other instances, actuation can be automated rather than manual. Preferably, both actuation and witching among transmission modes can be accomplished with one hand, even while maintaining substantially the same grip that is used for actuation.

摘要： A device for treating a snake bite wound that utilizes a hypodermic tube with a curvature that is similar to a typical snake fang whereby the hypodermic tube on one end comprises a smooth bulbous tip with at least one opening and a vacuum source is attached to the other end of the hypodermic tube. The tip is inserted into a snake bite wound, and due to the curved shape of the hypodermic tube, the tip and the tube then follow the curved shape of the snake bite wound without damaging any of the tissue surrounding the snake bite canal. The vacuum source then extracts any venom that is present from the wound. The device also enables medicine to be injected into the wounded area to treat the wound.
