摘要: Provided herein is a catheter system including a catheter having a catheter distal end and a catheter proximal end, with the catheter defining a catheter lumen. The catheter system also includes a catheter hub coupled to the catheter proximal end, with the catheter hub further including a hub body having a hub distal end and a hub proximal end, the hub body having a cavity formed therein extending between the hub distal end and the hub proximal end. The catheter hub also includes an end port positioned at the hub proximal end and that provides an opening into the cavity. A split-septum connector of the catheter system is positioned at least partially within the end port, with the split-septum connector configured to seal the cavity when in a closed configuration and provide a fluid path to the catheter lumen when in an open configuration.

摘要: A medical device having resistance to Candida albicans yeast and antimicrobial activity includes a medical device surface having a copolymer coating of antifungal moieties and ionic binding moieties. The copolymer coating is obtained by copolymerizing antifungal monomers selected from tricyclodecane dimethanol diacrylate, 4-tert-butylcyclohexyl acrylate, neopentyl glycol diacrylate, trimethylcyclohexyl methacrylate, isobornyl acrylate, and mixtures thereof and ionic binding monomers selected from acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, and mixtures thereof. The coating may be loaded with elutable antimicrobial substances ionically bound to the ionic binding moieties. The antimicrobial substances may be cationic, such as, a cationic dye such as ethyl violet chloride, a cationic drug such as chlorhexidine diacetate, cationic peptides such as cecropins, magainins, protegrins, and bactenicins, or ionic silver. The medical device may be a catheter having an intraluminal surface and an extraluminal surface, and the copolymer coating is disposed on the intraluminal surface and the extraluminal surface.

摘要: Provided herein is an instrument delivery device including an instrument, a housing having a proximal end and a distal end and defining an inner volume configured to movably receive the instrument, a coupling device positioned at the distal end of the housing and including a lock configured to couple the housing to a proximal connector of the catheter assembly, and an advancement member configured to move relative to the housing to move the instrument between a first position and a second position. A scrubbing cap is engaged with the lock that includes a scrubbing insert, a housing having a connector portion configured to engage with the lock, a holder portion configured to retain the scrubbing insert therein, and a seal that seals the scrubbing insert within the holder portion. The scrubbing cap is engaged with the lock so as to be removable from the instrument delivery device.

摘要: In one aspect, the present teachings provide a system for performing cytometry that can be operated in three operational modes. In one operational mode, a fluorescence image of a sample is obtained by exciting one or more fluorophore(s) present in the sample by an excitation beam formed as a superposition of a top-hat-shaped beam with a plurality of beams that are radiofrequency shifted relative to one another. In another operational mode, a sample can be illuminated successively over a time interval by a laser beam at a plurality of excitation frequencies in a scanning fashion. The fluorescence emission from the sample can be detected and analyzed, e.g., to generate a fluorescence image of the sample. In yet another operational mode, the system can be operated to illuminate a plurality of locations of a sample concurrently by a single excitation frequency, which can be generated, e.g., by shifting the central frequency of a laser beam by a radiofrequency. For example, a horizontal extent of the sample can be illuminated by a laser beam at a single excitation frequency. The detected fluorescence radiation can be used to analyze the fluorescence content of the sample, e.g., a cell/particle.

In response to movement of the proximal component from a proximal position to a distal position with respect to the distal component, the male luer of the male luer adapter may open the valve to vent air inside the catheter system.
