摘要: An extracorporeal blood treatment apparatus is provided comprising a filtration unit connected to a blood circuit and to a dialysate circuit, a preparation device for preparing and regulating the composition of the dialysis fluid; a control unit is configured for setting a sodium concentration value for the dialysis fluid in the dialysis supply line at a set point based on the physician prescription; starting from the initial patient plasma conductivity, estimated at the beginning of the treatment, and based on the target plasma conductivity/sodium concentration which is equivalent to the dialysate conductivity/sodium concentration prescribed, the control unit determines the minimum constant gradient between dialysis fluid and plasma conductivity/concentration to be maintained during treatment to achieve the conductivity/concentration target in the patient plasma at the end of the session.

The elongate member has proximal and distal end portions and defines a longitudinal axis through the proximal and distal end portions. The elongate member includes a wall at least partially defining a longitudinal lumen and defining a side opening extending radially from an outer surface of the wall to the longitudinal lumen. The insert is at least partially disposed within the side opening and at least partially defines an insert passage in fluid communication with the longitudinal lumen. The elongate member includes a first material defining the side opening and the insert includes a second material different from the first material.

摘要: Provided herein are novel devices for the formation of arteriovenous fistulas, which may aid subjects in need of hemodialysis. The novel devices are provided in a non-surgical procedure, greatly decreasing the cost and increasing the convenience of placing an arteriovenous fistula. The devices are atraumatic, and consist of a sutureless anastomosis device and conduit. Methods and tools for placing the devices in vivo are disclosed, including a magnetic-assisted method.

摘要: A blood purification apparatus that includes a blood circuit including an arterial blood circuit provided with an arterial puncture needle and a venous blood circuit provided with a venous puncture needle with which an access vessel is puncturable, the blood circuit allowing blood of the patient to extracorporeally circulate; a blood purifier connected to the arterial blood circuit and to the venous blood circuit and that purifies the blood flowing through the blood circuit; a blood pump provided to the arterial blood circuit; a recirculating-blood-detecting unit capable of detecting recirculating blood when the blood of the patient is caused to extracorporeally circulate through the blood circuit by activating the blood pump, the recirculating blood being blood once returned to the patient from the venous blood circuit and reintroduced into the arterial blood circuit; and a recirculation-rate-calculating unit capable of calculating recirculation rate, the recirculation rate being a proportion of the recirculating blood in the blood flowing in the arterial blood circuit. The blood purification apparatus includes a control unit capable of executing a treatment mode in which blood purification treatment is performed with the blood purifier while the blood of the patient is caused to extracorporeally circulate through the blood circuit by activating the blood pump in a state of normal connection where an upstream part of the access vessel is punctured with the puncture needle at a distal end of the arterial blood circuit and a downstream part of the access vessel is punctured with the puncture needle at a distal end of the venous blood circuit; and a measurement mode in which the detection of recirculating blood by the recirculating-blood-detecting unit and the calculation of recirculation rate by the recirculation-rate-calculating unit are performed while the blood of the patient is caused to extracorporeally circulate through the blood circuit by activating the blood pump in a state of reverse connection where the downstream part of the access vessel is punctured with the puncture needle at the distal end of the arterial blood circuit and the upstream part of the access vessel is punctured with the puncture needle at the distal end of the venous blood circuit, the calculated recirculation rate being used in calculating blood flow rate in the access vessel that is calculable in the measurement mode.

摘要: An arteriovenous graft (AV graft) and method of using the AV graft to facilitate dialysis is described. The AV graft includes a tube having two or more embedded reinforcing elements that each extend along a length of the tube and extends circumferentially along a portion of the tube. The reinforcing element is positioned in the patent distal to the skin and assists by minimizing slippage of a hemodialysis needle that might happen to attempt to pierce the back side of the AV graft. The method includes providing the AV graft to the patient and providing hemodialysis to a patient provided with the AV graft.

摘要: Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to an access system including a flexible needle configured to negotiate a non-linear pathway to access a subcutaneous port. Optionally, the access system can include a needle guide to facilitate alignment of the needle with the subcutaneous port. The needle can be configured to be flexible enough to have some bending, or deflection capability but also possess sufficient columnar strength to prevent buckling when piercing the skin and entering the port. The flexible needle can be deflected from a central axis to overcome any misalignment with the receiving cup and/or conduit of the port. Once within the port conduit the needle can negotiate the non-linear, or tortuous port conduit pathway, and stream-line the insertion procedure.

摘要: Various systems, devices, and methods for endovascular implants and placement thereof are disclosed. The implants include a proximal implant segment, a distal implant segment, connector struts connecting the proximal implant segment to the distal implant segment, and a side opening between the proximal implant segment and the distal implant segment. The implants can be used to create an arteriovenous fistula or connect one vessel of the body to another by placement of the proximal implant segment and the distal implant segment within the vessels to be connected. The implants can include one or more anchors for securing the implant in place with respect to the vessels of the body it is connecting. The implants can also include a continuous strut or ring at a distal edge of the proximal implant segment. Also disclosed are methods for percutaneous placement of the implants, and a device for percutaneous delivery.

摘要: An integrated catheter assembly includes a housing member, an outer lumen member extending from the housing member, and a needle member slidably or movably coupled to the housing member, wherein the needle member can be extended beyond a first port of the outer lumen member in a first position and concealed in the outer lumen member in a second position. The outer lumen member has a side port between its first and second ports such that when the needle is extended in the first position and inserted into an arteriovenous fistula, blood from the arteriovenous fistula flashes into the needle member, is diverted through a relief port of the needle member out the side port of the outer lumen member for delivery to a dialysis machine. The assembly further includes an inner lumen member that is disposable through the housing member to extend out from the same the outer lumen member to provide dialyzed blood from the machine. The assembly therefore receives and delivers blood through a single injection site.
