    摘要: A heating device for blocking flow of air if the inside of a cartridge enters a negative-pressure state is provided. The device includes a cartridge upper plate having a fluid-guide member for guiding the flow of a fluid; a cartridge lower plate having an inlet, an outlet and another fluid-guide member positioned spaced apart from the fluid-guide member of the cartridge upper plate; a heater disposed between the cartridge upper plate and the lower plate and heating the fluid being guided by the fluid-guide members; air filters positioned outside the fluid-guide members and discharging air bubbles in the heated fluid into the atmosphere; and extension units which are provided on the cartridge upper and lower plates having film members and outflow and discharge passages and that keep the flow of fluid normal in the positive-pressure state and block the fluid movement pathway if a negative pressure occurs inside the cartridge.

    摘要: A fluid trap apparatus includes an inlet configured to receive a flow of composite fluid into the apparatus. The composite fluid contains at least a first fluid and a second fluid. An outer wall defines an interior chamber. A flow diffuser is interposed within the interior chamber. The flow diffuser directs the flow of the composite fluid to circulate through the interior chamber. The first fluid and the second fluid separate as the composite fluid circulates through the interior chamber. A method of separating a first fluid from a second fluid includes introducing a flow of composite fluid into a separate chamber. A pressure gradient is created within the separation chamber. A flow diffuser is interposed in a flow path between an inlet and an outlet. The flow diffuser directs the flow of the composite fluid within the separation chamber. The first fluid and the second fluid are separated.

    摘要: A gas vent valve assembly may be attached or incorporated to a disposable fluid transfer set used with a fluid warmer to administer an infusate to a patient. The gas vent valve assembly has a housing having a fluid inlet, a gas outlet and a fluid outlet. The gas outlet is located at the top of the housing while the fluid outlet is located at the bottom of the housing. Inside the housing is an actuator float that has an upper seal and a lower seal. The dimension of the float relative to the chamber of the housing is such that the float is freely movable within the housing to an upper position whereby its upper seal closes the gas outlet while the fluid outlet is opened, and to a lower position whereby its lower seal closes the fluid outlet and the gas outlet is opened.

    摘要: An intravenous set with an automatic stopping mechanism in the drip chamber comprising a drip chamber (16) wherein the top portion of the drip chamber (16) has a cap (17) with a sharp tooth (18) extending radially outwards for puncturing a container or bottle (15); wherein a lower portion of the drip chamber (16) is connected to a joint or stem (23); wherein the joint or stem 23 is connected to a flexible tube (19) ending in a valve (13) to be connected to a catheter; wherein the flexible tube (19) has a manual flow control device (11); wherein inside the drip chamber (16) contains a stopper (22) for automatic control of flow of fluid from the drip chamber (16); wherein the stopper (22) comprises of a lower part or diaphragm (3), a middle part or stem (4) and a upper part (2); and wherein the stem (4) and the diaphragm (3) are connected by a stud (3), which stud is flexible and a part of the diaphragm (3); and wherein the stopper (22) is submerged as fluid filled in the drip chamber (16), fluid flows through the exit (19) of the drip chamber (16) to cause the stopper (22) to fall, thereby stopping fluid exiting when the diaphragm (3) of the stopper (22) blocks the exit of the drip chamber (16) and fluid in the drip chamber (16) is used up.

    摘要: The invention provides an air valve for use in getting air out of intravenous (IV) tubing and preventing the air from intravenous (IV) tubing from entering healthcare patients' veins. In an illustrative embodiment the air valve is attached at one end to the intravenous (IV) tubing that hangs from an intravenous (IV) bag and at the other end to the injection site, where a needle is inserted into a patient's vein. The invention prevents any air from entering a healthcare patient's blood stream and causing air embolism, a potentially lethal complication caused by an accumulation of air bubbles in the blood stream that hinders the circulation of blood. The invention will also lead to increased productivity of intravenous (IV) drips since it allows for a seamless interchange of medications and solutions.
