Abstract: A skateboard includes a deck, one or more wheels, and a truck coupled to the deck and to the one or more wheels. The truck has a base plate for coupling to the deck, an axle for coupling to the one or more wheels, and a shaft secured to the base plate at one end, and to the axle at the other end. The shaft is capable of rotational movement with respect to the base plate about a first axis. The axle is capable of rotational movement with respect to the shaft about a second axis. First and second linkages extend from the base plate to the axle. The shaft and the first and second linkages work together to convert a leaning motion of the deck into a turning motion of the axle to control steering of the skateboard during use.

At least one accessory is snugly securable within the at least one recess of the front wheel support, wherein the main body has a first stiffness when the at least one accessory is removed from the at least one recess, and has a second stiffness that is greater than the first stiffness when the at least one accessory is snugly secured within the at least one recess, wherein the first stiffness and the second stiffness are resistances to bending under a bending load applied to the front wheel support through the foot-deck when the foot-deck supports a person.

Abstract: A self-balancing board is provided, comprising a platform having a first foot deck portion to substantially support a first foot of a rider, and a second foot deck portion to substantially support a second foot of the rider. A wheel assembly is positioned between the first foot deck portion and the second foot deck portion along a longitudinal axis of the platform, and comprises a wheel having a rotation axis that is generally orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the platform, and a motor unit driving the wheel. An orientation sensor senses the orientation of the platform. A controller receives data from the orientation sensor and controls the motor unit in response to the received data. At least one suspension interface between the platform and the wheel assembly has a single degree of freedom generally orthogonal to the rotation axis of the wheel and to the longitudinal axis of the platform, and biases the platform towards a rest position.
