摘要: A suspension system for a one-wheeled transportation device is disclosed. The one-wheeled transportation device includes (1) a wheel, and (2) a tiltable platform has a top side, a bottom side, a first end, a second end, a central longitudinal axis, and an aperture which is shaped and dimensioned to receive the wheel. The suspension system includes a wheel holder which rotationally carries the wheel, the wheel holder having a proximal end and an opposite distal end, the proximal end is pivotably connected to the second end of the tiltable platform so that the distal end resides above the top side at the first end. A bracket has a proximal end and an opposite distal end, the proximal end is connected to the tiltable platform so that the distal end of the bracket upwardly extends above the wheel. A shock absorber is connected between the distal end of the wheel holder and the distal end of the bracket.

In some embodiments, the powered unicycle includes a central wheel, a motor to power the central wheel, and a control system configured to control the application of power from the motor to the central wheel. The unicycle comprises a body portion and at least one platform for supporting the user. The unicycle can includes a handle that extends upwardly to a position that it can be grasped by a user of the unicycle. The handle can be partially or fully retractable into the body of the unicycle. In some configurations, two platforms upon which the user can stand are provided with one on each side of the central wheel. In some configurations, a pair of auxiliary or outrigger wheels is provided, such as with one outrigger wheel on each side of the central wheel.

摘要: A self-balancing electric vehicle may include a board having a frame, and a suspension system including at least one four-bar linkage coupling opposing end portions of a hub motor axle to the first end portion of the frame. The four-bar linkage(s) may have a first fixed link connected to the axle, a second fixed link comprising the frame, and two pivotable links joining the first fixed link to the second fixed link, such that the board is configured to be movable up and down relative to the axle. A shock absorber may be coupled to the four-bar linkage(s) and to the first end portion of the frame, such that the shock absorber is configured to damp up and down movement of the board relative to the axle.

摘要: An apparatus controller for prompting a rider to be positioned on a vehicle in such a manner as to reduce lateral instability due to lateral acceleration of the vehicle. The apparatus has an input for receiving specification from the rider of a desired direction of travel, and indicating means for reflecting to the rider a propitious instantaneous body orientation to enhance stability in the face of lateral acceleration. The indicating may include a handlebar that is pivotable with respect to the vehicle and that is driven in response to vehicle turning.
