Abstract: A machine for shaping elongate strips, especially of metal, into a variety of profiles comprises a cascade of working stations in which the strips are subjected to progressive deformation between rollers, some or all of which may be driven to advance the strips along their transport path through the several stations. Each working station has an annular or star-shaped carrier, rotatable on a support about a horizontal axis, with a plurality of peripherally spaced roller mountings adapted to hold a pair of coacting rollers, the various roller pairs on each carrier being differently shaped to produce a selected profile upon being brought into an operating position -- e.g. horizontal on a level with the axis -- by rotation of the carrier. The operatively positioned roller pair can be coupled with a drive mechanism, individual to the respective station or common to all working stations, for positive rotation thereby.

Abstract: The apparatus comprises a pair of rotatable devices each holding a plurality of metal shaping rollers, the rollers of one device meshing with rollers of the other device to produce specific designs. This is made possible by merely selecting suitable rollers of both sets and when production of a specific metallic section is terminated, other rollers are selected by rotating the rotatable devices. When suitable rollers have been selected they are locked in operating position and when another design is required, the devices are unlocked, a selection is made, and the devices are again locked to produce the new metallic section.

Abstract: A rolling mill stand, particularly for a rod or bar mill, has, at each side of the pass line, a rotary roll housing which includes a number of fitments each for detachably carrying a roll assembly. By rotating the roll housings, one of the roll assemblies of each roll housing can be brought into a rolling position, in which it is coupled to drive means. In order to change the rolls at the rolling positions, each of the roll housings is rotated to bring a fresh roll assembly into position. The stand has a roll change rig enabling one or more of the roll assemblies of each roll housing to be quickly run out of the stand and replaced by substitute roll assemblies.
