Abstract:
Coiling device (“R”) and relative method for a windable long, metal product (10). The device (“R”) comprises a mandrel (12) having a substantially circular transverse section and rotating around a horizontal, vertical or inclined axis, a containing element (13) to contain the metal product (10) arranged in correspondence with the mandrel (12) and substantially orthogonal to the axis, and at least a guide and containing device (15, 16) able to be driven between a first working position wherein it cooperates with the mandrel (12), and a second inactive position wherein it is arranged distant from the mandrel (12). The containing element (13) comprises an annular channel (14) made in proximity with an outer surface of the mandrel (12). The guide and containing device (15, 16) comprises a groove (20) which defines an accompanying guide for the metal product (10) along an outer circumference of the mandrel (12) towards the annular channel (14), when the guide and containing device (15, 16) is in the first working position.
Abstract:
A method for coiling thin metal strip (1), especially hot-rolled or cold-rolled thin steel strip, on a coiler mandrel (3a) which is adjusted in diameter. At the beginning, the inner windings (12) of the coil are coiled on the adjusted coiler mandrel diameter, and, after the final winding of the coil (11), the coiler mandrel (3a) is pulled out, or the coil (11) is taken off. One or more profile grooves (17) are pressed into one inner winding or into several adjacent inner windings (12) on the circumference during rotation of the coil.
Abstract:
Winding machine for rolled or drawn wire/rod with turn clutch device for automatic winding of the type comprising a reel with a mandrel and base flange and an external mobile containment counter flange, wherein the counter flange is openable to allow the axial extraction from the mandrel of the reel of the completed coil, the flange of base comprising a recess to receive the head of the wire/rod to be wound, with an overturned trapezoidal annular recess with corresponding reduction towards the base for auto-clamping the wire/rod to start winding without requiring pincers.
Abstract:
A machine for uncoiling and straightening strip stock having a strip stock uncoiler means and an adjustable strip stock peeler means positioned adjacent the uncoiler means for stripping the leading edge of a coil of strip stock away from the body of the coil when the strip stock uncoiler means is actuated. A strip stock threading means is positioned adjacent the uncoiler means for receiving the leading edge of the strip stock coil from the peeler means and imparting to the strip stock a partial removal of the set that has been placed in the strip stock due to its winding into a coil. The threading means feeds the strip stock upwardly through an upper arcuate threading chute which then feeds the strip stock downwardly into a straightening means. A lower arcuate threading chute feeds the strip stock from the straightening means down and under the strip stock uncoiler means and thence to a strip stock processing machine without developing a set in the straightened strip stock.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus for automatically and electrically cutting wires, especially those of large diameters, in a high-speed continuous winding apparatus, particularly one having two or more spools for successive wire winding, in which a wire is made to contact and short with a plurality of closely arranged electrodes while being moved from a spool on which the wire has been wound in a prescribed quantity to another empty spool and, at the point of contact, melted to break or to be so softened by heat as to be torn off under wire tension.
Abstract:
A winding machine (100; 100a, 100b) for wrapping strands of rolled material, such as a bar, a rod, wire or the like, around a reel into coils: a reel (50; 50a, 50b); a base flange (1) defining a first catching recess (6) intended to receive an end of a first strand (17; 17a, 17b); a first cover (9) movable between an open position leaving the first catching recess (6) exposed and a closed position covering the first catching recess (6) to form a closed passage for the end of the first strand (17; 17a, 17b) in order to secure the end of the first strand to the reel (50; 50a, 50b). At least a second element (2) defining a second catching recess (4); and at least a second cover (8) movable between an open position leaving the further catching recess (4) exposed and a closed position covering the second catching recess (4) to form a closed passage for the end of a second strand (27; 27a, 27b) in order to secure the end of the second strand to the reel (50; 50a, 50b).

Abstract:
A method of winding a wire about a plurality of spools is provided. The method includes locating the plurality of spools on a winding shaft in a side-by-side fashion. An adaptor plate is located between adjacent spools. The adaptor plate includes a wire catch feature configured for catching the wire as a traveler feeding the wire to the spools moves from one spool to the next spool while the winding shaft rotates.
Abstract:
Means for coiling cable and automatically separating defective cable at the leading end from the good remainder, comprising a rotatable main cable takeup reel and a rotatable auxiliary cable takeup reel coaxial therewith. Guide means permits the free passage of cable from the main to the auxiliary reel until good cable reaches the auxiliary reel, whereupon the two reels are rotated and the guide means entrains the cable so that good cable is wound on the main takeup reel and defective cable is simultaneously wound on the auxiliary takeup reel.
Abstract:
An automatic strip coiler with a twist guide for turning the strip on edge and into an elongate strip guide. The strip guide is openable to form a looping box. The coiler has a rotating flywheel table with a split drum mounted thereon. An infrared sensor connected to a time delay mechanism opens the guide chutes to form a looping box when the strip end enters the split drum. At the same time, the flywheel table accelerates the split drum to commence winding the strip.
