    摘要: A spring forming machine is provided with closed-loop feedback from sensors which monitor dimensions of the coils and heads of the spring being formed, servo motors which control wire feed speed, coil radius and pitch forming elements, and coiling direction. Video cameras form pictorial images of the spring being formed. The images are digitized and fed to a central computer, along with images from similar machines forming similar springs, which compares the signals, such as photometric images, from the different machines, which represent actual spring dimensions, with a single stored image relating to the desired dimensions, such as head shape, coil diameter, and the positions and angles of bends. Discrepancies are correlated with causation data, such as feed roll slippage or material hardness variations, and adjustment signals are sent to the machines. Machines producing errors are interrogated more frequently by the computer. Large errors or failures to respond to adjustments triggers an alarm.

    摘要: In an apparatus for manufacturing springs, a frame body has guide rails on which a pair of movable bodies are mounted to be movable. Each of the movable bodies has rotatable holding rollers between which a wire which is to be processed is held, and each body also has a shaping roller for bending the end of the wire in a coil. Arranged between the shaping roller and the holding rollers are a guide member for defining the supply passage for the wire, and a pitch rod for determining the pitch of the coil formed. When the holding rollers are rotated, while holding the wire, the movable bodies are moved toward each other by the pulling force exerted to the wire, and the wire is supplied from between the paired holding rollers to the shaping roller through the guide member. The pitch rod is reciprocated as the movable bodies run, and as one turn of the wire coil strikes against the pitch rod, making it possible to form spiral springs at both ends of the wire.

    摘要: A bedding foundation box spring having novel double twist coil springs interconnecting a wooden base frame and a top wire grid. The coil springs each comprise a single length of wire having a middle section located in a diametral plane of one end convolution of the spring and a pair of spring arms coiled in the same rotational direction from opposite ends of the middle section. Each of the spring arms is formed into a helix of varying pitch which terminates in a free end of the spring arm. The free ends of the two spring arms of each coil are located on opposite sides of the end convolution of the coil and are secured to the wire grid. The novel coils are manufactured by inserting a straight length of wire through a stationary pair of forming dies and a mandrel located between the dies. With the middle of the straight length of wire located in the mandrel, the mandrel is then simultaneously rotated and moved axially while the ends of the length of wire are pulled through the stationary forming dies.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a hyperfrequency delay line. The method comprises using a single metal wire shaped by the coiling thereof, said operation comprising bringing the wire into the form of contiguous coils.     摘要: A wire forming machine and method wherein a length of wire is cut and provided with a bow-shape at a coiling station by forming jaws moving relative to a forming arbor and with a pair of wire legs lying to either side of a stationary element at the coiling station. Right and left tool slides each carry a rotatable coiling head which is advanced into engagement with the wire legs and with catch pins on the coiling heads engaging and holding the wire whereby rotation of the coiling heads will form coils in each of the wire legs. The central bowed wire base is free to advance toward the coiling heads while being restrained against rotation whereby the lengths of wire to form the coils are provided by the advancing wire base, rather than by shortening of the free ends of the wire legs.
