The method includes the steps of holding a match-plate between one pair of cope and drag flasks that are horizontally positioned, each of them having a sand-filling port for supplying molding sand at its side wall, defining upper and lower molding spaces by inserting upper and lower squeeze-plates in respective openings of the pair of cope and drag flasks which openings are opposed to the match-plate, putting the pair of cope and drag flasks and the match-plate in a vertical position, and causing the sand-filling ports to be placed in an upper position, spraying a release agent into the two upper and lower molding spaces, supplying molding sand through the sand-filling ports to the two upper and lower molding spaces, and squeezing the molding sand in the two upper and lower molding spaces.

摘要： An aluminum ingot casting machine comprising a source of molten metal, a rotatable annular ring, carrying ingot casting moulds and a drive means for indexing the moulds. The machine includes a vacuum demoulder having a vacuum seal arrangement comprising a sealing element having a flexible core which can deform to form a vacuum seal against an ingot and a flexible abrasion resistant outer layer on said core, and retaining elements located on a lower face of the vacuum lifting head for releasably retaining the sealing element onto the lifting head. The vacuum seal comprises a flexible ring shaped body, being rounded in cross section, having a fibre cord core and an abrasion resistant flexible sheathing surrounding the core.

摘要： An aluminum ingot casting machine comprising a source of molten metal, a rotatable annular ring, carrying ingot casting moulds and a drive means for indexing the moulds. The machine includes a vacuum demoulder having a vacuum seal arrangement comprising a sealing element having a flexible core which can deform to form a vacuum seal against an ingot and a flexible abrasion resistant outer layer on said core, and retaining elements located on a lower face of the vacuum lifting head for releasably retaining the sealing element onto the lifting head. By the method the die has provided over at least a part of its internal cavity forming surfaces, indentations of predetermined depth, area and distribution, by employing a technique selected from the group comprising photoetching, electrochemical etching and grit blasting. The die cavity forming surfaces also have thereon, over at least those surfaces with indentations, a coating of a hard, corrosion and erosion resistant material which extends into and between each indentation as a continuous layer.

摘要： A core handling apparatus includes an upright, tubular frame adapted for being suspended from an overhead hoist. A pair of upright air cylinders are fixed to opposite sides of the frame and each includes a reciprocable rod. Upper and lower shafts are respectively rotatably mounted in upper and lower end portions of the frame. A first length of roller chain is engaged with a first sprocket mounted on the upper shaft and has its opposite ends coupled to the respective upper ends of the piston rods of the pair of cylinders while a second length of roller chain is engaged with a second sprocket mounted on the lower shaft and has its opposite ends coupled to the respective lower ends of the piston rods. A mandrel plate is fixed for rotation with the lower shaft and is adapted for having various core handling attachments releasably secured thereto. A stop mechanism stop plate is fixed for rotation with the upper shaft and a stop pin is selectively insertable through upper and lower tubular receptacles provided in the upper end portion of the frame so as to respectively cooperate with first and second pairs of adjustable abutment surfaces of the stop plate so as to limit to amount of rotation of the upper shaft respectively to about 90.degree. and 180.degree. and hence to similarly limit the range of rotation of the lower shaft and mandrel plate, whereby an operator controlling reciprocation of the air cylinders will be aided by the stop structure in effecting precise positioning of a core handling attachment relative to or together with a core to be or being handled.

摘要： A mold for obtaining metallic parts with an orientated crystalline struct by the directed solidification of an alloy is disclosed. The mould comprises a body of refractory mold that is a good heat conductor and on the inner wall of said body is provided a chemically protective lining of dense refractory metal oxide, with a high degree of purity, deposited on said body by blowpipe projection as a thin non-porous layer. The thickness of the metal oxide lining is in the order of a tenth of a millimeter to five tenths of a millimeter, the oxide being choosen in the group constituted by aluminium oxide, zirconium oxide, magnesium oxide and thorium dioxide with a degree of purity at least equal to 99.5 %.
