摘要: A cutting tool comprising a cutting tool holder and a cutting insert adapted to be mounted thereon. The tool holder comprises an insert seat defined by a base and at least one side wall extending from the base to define an insert seat space adapted to receive therein the insert. The seat comprises a support element extending into the insert seat from the base, and a fastening member engageable with the seat. The fastening member is displaceable with respect thereto between a mounting position adapted to allow the insert to be mounted onto the seat and a securing position adapted for securing the insert within the seat. The insert is formed with a securing cavity and when the insert is mounted onto the tool holder and is in the securing position, a portion of the support element and the fastening member is received within the cavity of the insert.

The wiper tooth includes at least at a portion having a peripheral surface about the second axis and the peripheral surface intersects a face surface defining a cutting edge that is round about the second axis for cutting about the first axis. In some embodiments, the peripheral surface, the face surface and the cutting edge are formed on an insert that is mounted the mill body.

An insert (28) is removably connected to the pocket (22′) at the primary bearing face (24) and is positioned adjacent the radial wall (26). An axial seating pin (32) is removably connected to the body (12) and extends at an angle substantially perpendicular to the axis (20) of the body (12). The axial seating pin (32) has an abutting face that contacts a face (30) of the insert (28) and prevents the insert (28) from moving axially during operation.

摘要: The present invention provides a pin milling cutter formed by combining a cutter and an adapter to prevent errors in attaching a cutter to the adapter even when the cutter is similar but of a different type and even if the engagement section between the cutter and the adapter are the same. A mounting error prevention mechanism is provided on a main cutter unit and an adapter to prevent an erroneous combination of a cutter and adapter from fitting together normally. The mounting error prevention mechanism includes: a projection and a cavity corresponding to the main cutter unit and the adapter and providing a tapered fit; and a projection and a corresponding groove. The projection can be inserted into the groove only when the cutter and the adapter are combined correctly.

A cantilevered member is machined from the tool body so as to be integrally formed with the tool body. The cantilevered member extends from one of the walls of the insert pocket. An adjustment screw exerts a force against the cantilevered member to selectively adjust a position of a cutting insert mounted on the cantilevered member with respect to the central, longitudinal axis of the cutting tool. A method for selectively adjusting a position of the cutting insert is also disclosed.
