    摘要: A torch cutting tool has a clamp that is attached to a workpiece with the clamp having a rotating platform with an attached first latch member. A second latch member is attached to a track with a moveable carriage on which is mounted a positioning arm with a torch holder. After the clamp is attached to the workpiece, the second latch member is quickly latched to the first latch member to effect quick and simple setup. A cam follower, a second rotating platform, a second positioning arm, a covered track, a rotating base plate and metered fuel and oxygen supplies make the tool simple and easy to use.

    摘要: A mechanized truck bolster ring renewal system is described for cutting the worn bolster ring from a truck bolster and for welding a new bolster ring onto the truck bolster. A bolster clamp mechanism is pivotally mounted on a frame and includes means for centering the truck bolster as well as clamping the truck bolster thereon. A hydraulic cylinder is provided for pivotally moving the bolster clamp from a horizontally disposed position to a vertically disposed position. Apparatus is provided for permitting the selective rotation of the bolster clamp and the bolster thereon. A cutting torch is mounted on a horizontally movable arm and is moved in place adjacent the bolster ring. The cutting torch is ignited and cuts the ring from the truck bolster as the bolster clamp rotates. After the worn ring has been cut from the truck bolster, the torch assembly is removed from the horizontally extending arm with a ring mandrel being installed thereon. A new bolster ring is positioned on the ring mandrel and is positioned adjacent the truck bolster. The ring is tack welded in position and the horizontal arm is then retracted. The ring mandrel is removed from the horizontal arm and a welding torch is installed. The horizontal is then extended into position with welding torches then welding the inside and outside diameters of the ring to the truck bolster. When the welding is complete, the horizontal arm is retracted and the bolster clamp mechanism is lowered into its horizontal position and is removed therefrom.

    摘要: Pipe fittings are prepared for re-use by accurately re-beveling the pipe edges which are subsequently to be re-welded. A rotating table is provided with concentric rings which build up in height toward the center in order to accommodate the open end of various size fittings. A hand-crank is coupled to the rotary table to permit controlled rotation of a fitting being reconditioned. A vertically adjustable bracket is adapted to support a cutting torch directed at a predetermined angle, according to the bevel desired, proximate the upper end of the fitting. The table is then rotated with the crank through a full revolution in order to bevel the surface at which the torch is directed. As needed, the fitting may be inverted to refurbish a second end, and adapters may be provided to accommodate tees, elbows and the like.

    摘要: A steel cutting apparatus includes a cutting torch that is moved in an arcuate path of constant radius so that a cutting flame of the cutting torch is always aimed at a fixed point in relation to a strand of steel at a cutting plane. Molten steel and iron oxide flow through a kerf in the steel toward a bottom corner of the strand, that is a center of the arcuate path. The rate of advance of the cutting torch along the arcuate path is controlled to compensate for at least a length of the path. The temperature of the strand in the path of the cutting flame, any edge of the strand in the path of the cutting flame, and a time remaining for cutting the strand can also be factors that influence the variable rate of advance of the cutting torch.
