摘要:
The invention involves the extraction process of a glow plug pencil (23) or a broken pencil (23) which is stuck in a cylinder head (13) housing (11) of a glow plug engine comprising a lower (19) and upper (17) part, so that the upper part (17) forms a shoulder (21) with the lower part (19), the pencil (23) being stuck in the lower part (19). The process is remarkable in that it includes a step (a) for drilling a bore in the pencil (23) according to the longitudinal direction of the latter which is performed with the use of a drill bit (1) comprising a drilling part (5) with flutes (7) and a shank (3) respectively having a diameter smaller and greater than the lower part diameter (19) of the housing (11) so that the shank (3) forms a shoulder (9) with the drilling part (5), and in that step a) for drilling the bore includes the drilling of the pencil (23) until the said shoulder (9) of the drill bit (1) is positioned to a stop against the shoulder (21) of the housing (11).

A method for repairing a cylinder liner includes: placing a cylinder liner having a first inner diameter and a first outer diameter into a cavity of a confinement, the cavity including a cavity inner diameter that is substantially the same as the first outer diameter of the cylinder liner; heating the cylinder liner to a temperature at which the cylinder liner undergoes plastic deformation, causing the first inner diameter of the cylinder liner to decrease; and cooling the cylinder liner. The cooled cylinder liner has a second inner diameter that is less than the first inner diameter. An apparatus for repairing a cylinder liner includes a confinement having a cavity and a fluid passageway for controlling the temperature of the confinement, and a heating block for heating the cylinder liner when the cylinder liner is inserted into the cavity.

Remanufacturing a used cylinder liner includes receiving a used cylinder liner having a fillet relieved of residual compressive stress via service in an engine, and compressing a material substrate of the cylinder liner forming a fatigue sensitive fillet, such that a non-uniform profile of the fillet is reshaped via plastic deformation of the material substrate. Residual compressive stress is restored to the fillet at least in part via the plastic deformation. A mask and used cylinder liner assembly for processing the used cylinder liner during remanufacturing is also disclosed.

A method of remanufacturing a piston includes machining an exterior surface of a body of the piston to define a reference surface. The reference surface is inwardly offset relative to a portion of the exterior surface adjacent the reference surface. The body is made from a body material comprising a metal. A layer of a cold spray powder is applied to the reference surface via cold spraying to define a piston blank surface. The piston blank surface is outwardly offset relative to the portion of the exterior surface adjacent the reference surface. The cold spray powder is made from a powder material comprising the metal. The piston blank surface is machined to define a piston finish surface. The piston finish surface has a dimension which is within a predetermined range.

A method for repair of a cylinder block including a water ferrule having damage in an area proximate to the water ferrule is disclosed. The repair method includes removing material from the area containing and surrounding the damage. The method also includes providing a counter bore sized to surround the removed material. The counter bore is configured to define a seat at the one end of the water ferrule. A sealing member is aligned and introduced into the seat of the counter bore. The method includes aligning a stepped insert coaxially with the sealing member and the seat. The method also includes a step of introducing the insert into the seat of the counter bore to form an interference fit therewith. The method further includes providing a seal formed by a combination of the sealing member and the insert within the seat of the counter bore.

A method for manufacturing an engine block includes removing material from the top deck of the engine block surrounding a first opening to create a first recessed area, placing a first seal within the first recessed area, positioning a first insert within the first recessed area and against the first seal. The method may also include removing material from the top deck of the engine block surrounding a second opening to create a second recessed area that at least partially overlaps the first recessed area, placing a second seal in the second recessed area and positioning a second insert within the second recessed area and against the second seal.

A process for remanufacturing a cylinder head that includes a worn or damaged rocker arm stand adapted to receive a rocker shaft to which at least one rocker arm is mounted, the steps including machining a channel in a surface of the worn or damaged rocker arm stand, securing an insert into the channel, and machining the insert to form a remanufactured inner facing surface. The remanufactured cylinder head includes at least one rocker arm stand that has a machined channel with a remanufactured insert secured therein, the rocker shaft being disposed adjacent the inner facing surface, not the rocker arm stand.

A method for repairing a wear-induced void associated with a surface of a component including applying a heat-cured ceramic material to the wear-induced void, wherein the heat-cured ceramic material is configured to substantially fill the wear-induced void and providing a volume of material to a bladder configured to retain the volume of material and expand in one or more directions, wherein at least a portion of the bladder is further configured to apply at least one of pressure and heat to the heat-cured ceramic material. The method further includes applying at least one of pressure and heat, via the bladder, to the heat-cured ceramic material.

The present invention provides for a method of repairing a part, having a damaged portion that has deviated from an original configuration, by using a laser cladding process. The process comprises the steps of applying cladding material to the damaged portion, and irradiating the cladding material with the laser beam until such time as the cladding material substantially bonds with the part thereby forming a repaired area having a configuration substantially the same as the original configuration.
