    摘要: An elliptically moving mechanism includes: a track disc formed with two tracks, the two tracks perpendicularly intersecting each other; a transmission ring rotatably fitted around a circumference of the track disc; a rocking arm positioned under the track disc; and two slide members disposed on a top face of the rocking arm. The rocking arm is connected to the two tracks via the two slide members. The two slide members are slidable along the two tracks respectively. When the transmission ring is rotated, the rocking arm is driven by the transmission ring to move in an elliptical path. The elliptically moving mechanism is easy to manufacture and assemble and has a small volume and is lightweight. Moreover, the mechanism provides different elliptical paths of different sizes.

    摘要: An apparatus for machining both inside and outside of a hollow workpiece (16) to impart thereto inner and outer curved surfaces that are contoured to be non-circular is disclosed. It includes workpiece supports (10, 11) that clamp the workpiece oriented substantially vertically from its opposite upper and lower sides to support it rotatably about its axis extending substantially vertically. A C-axis drive (18) acts on the workpiece supports to rotate the workpiece about that workpiece axis. The workpiece supports are driven by a Z-axis drive to move the workpiece in a direction of that workpiece axis. Also included are an exterior machining unit (24) having a cutting tool (26) arranged to be movable in a direction of X-axis that is orthogonal to the workpiece axis, and an interior machining unit (25) having a cutting tool (33) arranged to be movable in a direction of U-axis that is parallel to the X-axis. The cutting tool (26) in the exterior machining unit can be positioned to lie outside of the workpiece for to shape an outer surface of the workpiece while the cutting tool (33) in the interior machining unit can be inserted into the inside of the workpiece from an end side thereof to shape an inner surface of the workpiece.

    摘要: A double head grinding machine for the roots of turbine blades or similar complex workpieces with concave and/or convex surfaces has two parallel horizontal spindles the upper of which carries a single grinding wheel and the lower of which carries two coaxial grinding wheels. The base of the machine frame supports a table which is movable by a first motor in a direction at right angles to the axes of the spindles, tangentially of the grinding wheels and along a horizontal path below the spindles. A work holder on the table is movable by a second motor along a sloping path in a direction making an angle of 30 degrees with the axes of the spindles and at right angles to the direction of movement of the table in such a way that the workpiece which is held in the holder can be moved toward or away from the grinding wheels. The movements of the table and work holder in the two directions are controlled by discrete circuits or by a computer so as to impart to the workpiece a composite movement having a component in the direction of movement of the table and a component in the direction of movement of the work holder with reference to the table. At least one of the grinding wheels has a frustoconical working surface section whose inclination with reference to a plane that is normal to the axes of the spindles is also 30 degrees. The grinding machine renders it possible to treat or form arcuate surfaces whose radii of curvature greatly exceed the radii of the grinding wheels.

    摘要: Methods and machining apparatus for indexing and forming spool and pinion shafts for use in a rotary control valve of a power steering system are disclosed. In particular, the methods include forming a contoured spool shaft extension on an end of a spool shaft and a complementary rosette on an end of a pinion shaft, and forming spool and pinion shaft holders having complementary rosettes and contoured ends, respectively, to permit accurate mounting of the spool and pinion shafts during subsequent machine operations. The machining apparatus includes a workpiece holder which rotates the spool or pinion shaft at a predetermined speed and a cutting assembly which moves a cutting tool into and out of contact with the workpiece at three times the speed of rotation of the workpiece.
