By tilting each rotation shaft with respect to the horizontal plane, it is possible to prevent the workpieces from being damaged.

摘要: A method useful for polishing a large number of miniature components such as multi-layer electronic components, within a high speed barrel polishing device, is disclosed. In various embodiments of the present invention, a vertical planetary ball mill or other barrel polishing device is modified to rotate polishing containers having a modified interior cavity structure. This interior cavity provides a smooth, gradually curved interior sidewall that improves circulation within the container during high-speed vertical polishing rotation. The improved circulation results in polishing for a larger number of components placed within the container and in less time than existing polishing container structures. In further embodiments, the containers are rotated around a generally tilted axis positioned at an angle between entirely vertical and horizontal positions. Rotation about a tilted axis further reduces collisions and increases relative polishing movement within the container.

摘要: A machine for finishing automotive wheels having a rotatable turret, a plurality of containers or barrel cages journaled on the turret capable of selective rotation independent of the turret, with cartridges loaded into said containers or cages from the end through openings in the turret and fixtures in the containers that stably hold automotive wheels in said containers for selective reception of said media. The wheels are held in stable position by a fixture that comprises two part cushioned supports for permitting selective reception of media about the surface of the wheel that requires finishing. The cartridges may be loaded in and out of the barrel cages by means of a conveyor system.

The method includes forming a composite material out of tungsten carbide powder and binder powder, pressing the composite material into a plurality of components, heating the plurality of components, optionally under pressure, to liquefy the binder, cooling the plurality of components until the binder solidifies, optionally grinding each of the plurality of components to a desired size, and cascading the plurality of components in a cascading machine under high energy conditions.

摘要: The invention includes a method and apparatus for automatic deburring of articles. The articles are placed in a barrel which is rotated so that the articles are deburred by centrifugal force. The barrel experiences two degrees of rotation. It rotates about its own axis, and it is also mounted on a rotating table. The table rotates in the opposite direction, and, in general, at a different speed, from that of the barrel. Separate motors rotate the barrel and the table independently. A releasable latch mechanism holds the barrel to the table. The table holds at least two barrels at once. The invention also provides a system which fully automates the deburring operation, and which is capable of processing a large quantity of articles with virtually no human intervention. The system includes conveyor and handler mechanisms which transport barrels between a filling station, a centrifugal deburring station, and a dumping station. While the articles in one pair of barrels are being deburred, the deburred articles which were processed in a previous cycle are dumped into a suitable collector, and the emptied barrels are filled with fresh articles to be deburred. The system can also include two centrifugal deburring mechanisms, with a total of at least four barrels. Articles can be delivered to and from one pair of barrels while the other pair of barrels is still rotating.

摘要: A high speed polishing device useful for polishing a large number of miniature components, such as multi-layer electronic components, is disclosed. In various embodiments of the present invention, a vertical planetary ball mill or other barrel polishing device is modified to rotate polishing containers having a modified interior cavity structure. This interior cavity provides a smooth, gradually curved interior sidewall that improves circulation within the container during high-speed vertical polishing rotation. 摘要: An apparatus is disclosed for performing high speed processing of a workpiece. The apparatus includes an outer vessel having an inner surface and a central axis. At least one intermediate vessel is located within the outer vessel and has an outer surface which contacts the inner surface of the outer vessel. At least one inner vessel is positioned within the intermediate vessel and adapted to receive an object to be subjected to a manufacturing process. The inner vessel is located at a position within the intermediate vessel such that the central axis of the inner vessel is spaced apart from the central axis of the outer vessel. A drive system controls the rolling of the intermediate vessel along the inner surface of the outer vessel. The rolling of the intermediate vessel causes the inner vessel to rotate about its axis and the axis of the outer vessel.

摘要: A method and apparatus for finishing automotive wheels having a rotatable turret, a plurality of containers journaled on the turret capable of receiving media and capable of selective rotation independent of the turret, and fixtures in the containers that stably hold automotive wheels in said containers for selective reception of said media. The turrets rotate at speeds from 75 to 500 rpm's to produce sufficiently high forces on the wheels. The wheels are held in stable position by a fixture that comprises a plurality of plates fixed about the container shaft for stable engagement with the wheels. The plates may be attached with a flanged tube and angled at approximately 45 to 75 degrees from the plate. The invention also has means for reducing the pressure build up caused by the high rotational forces within the container.
