摘要: A smoothing method includes: a step of attaching a workpiece to a rotating shaft of a rotating mechanism; and a step of performing direct pressure blasting on the workpiece while rotating the workpiece about the rotating shaft as an axial center. In the blasting, injection media are injected in a direction orthogonal to the rotating shaft, the injection media include a core material made of an elastic body and abrasive grains provided on a surface of the core material, and hardness of the core material is lower than hardness of the abrasive grains.

摘要: The present invention relates to process and apparatus for automatically engraving stone memorial markers comprised of granite or marble. The markers have their polished facing surfaces covered with a cut-out blast-resistant stencil having prescribed lettering, numerals, decorative patterns and the like. The markers are conveyed through a sand blast chamber at a uniform rate and plural direct-air-feed nozzles are moved uniformly transversely thereover to effect precisely uniform engraving of the facing surfaces. The engraving is more precisely defined to a prescribed uniform depth with finer detail than heretofore possible by manual or other automated single-nozzle methods. The plural nozzles are essentially continuously fed with pressurized air and blast cutting media to obtain faster and more accurate engraving.

摘要: This invention relates to a blast cleaning apparatus and method which includes a laterally moving conveyor with openings therethrough, and particularly a laterally moving wire mesh conveyor. The conveying surface is moved laterally such that there is lateral movement of the conveyor surface in the blast cleaning chamber. The lateral movement is relative to the workpiece and is substantially horizontal and substantially transverse to the direction of advancement of the conveyor. The conveying surface is moved relative to the workpiece so as to expose to upwardly directed cleaning material areas of the workpiece that would otherwise be protected from the cleaning material by material separating the openings in the conveying surface.

摘要: An improved method and apparatus is provided for imparting a simple contour to an aircraft skin. A treatment chamber having a conveyor with a workpiece attached thereto and a shot peening blast unit positioned therein is provided. The workpiece is conveyed past the blast unit for peening treatment. A control system is provided for orienting the workpiece and blast unit so that the peening is done only in narrow spanwise strips and only on common chord percentage lines of the workpiece. This method and apparatus thereby creates chordwise simple curvature to the workpiece while minimizing compound curvature effects.

摘要: A computerized method and apparatus for high pressure grit or sand blasting comprises an upright cabinet through which work pieces, supported by a roller conveyor, can be disposed for blasting. An elongated actuator assembly horizontally extending across the enclosure interior comprises a pair of rigid, spaced-apart, rails upon which a displaceable carriage can move. The carriage supports a sand blasting head and nozzle. An internal tape within the actuator assembly moves the carriage. Tape condition is monitored by software in response to a magnetic sender driven by the tape idler pulley and an adjacent Hall effect sensor that picks up timed pulses. The actuator assembly is braced by buffer wheel assemblies at each end, in contact with vertical guide rails at each cabinet interior end. The hose-fed sand blasting head secured to the carriage directs sand or towards a target work piece be processed. The actuator assembly is vertically displaceable via cables controlled by an overhead servo motor, so that the sand blasting nozzle may be displaced in both horizontal and vertical. A programmable logic controller, armed with suitable software, provides operator menus for initiating various steps used in setup options, executing blast functions, moving the carriage blasting.

摘要: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a shot peening apparatus for which size increase is limited by projecting a shot material evenly on a workpiece using a single projector. The present invention provides a shot peening apparatus equipped with a workpiece-conveying mechanism for conveying a workpiece and a projector for projecting a shot material at the workpiece. The workpiece-conveying mechanism is equipped with: a pair of rollers, which extend in the workpiece conveyance direction, on which the workpieces are loaded, and which are rotated centered on the longitudinal axis line; an endless chain; and conveyance members for pressing and conveying workpieces in the conveyance direction. The projector is a centrifugal projector and is equipped with: a control cage into which the shot material is supplied and in which a first opening and a second opening are formed; and a bladed wheel, which is provided with multiple blades having a backward-sloping section that slopes toward the back in the rotation direction and which rotates centered on the central axis line of the control cage. The first opening and the second opening of the control cage are separated from each other in the circumferential direction of the control cage and are disposed offset from each other in the direction of the central axis line of the control cage.

摘要: Foam items may be buffed using particles such as particulate sodium bicarbonate in accordance with the present invention. Foam items may be, for example, expanded EVA foam items pre-formed into an intermediate size and shape. A skin layer may be formed during the expansion of the foam item to form an expanded foam item which may be entirely or partially removed by buffing the item using particles projected with selected buffing parameters. The buffing parameters may be varied based upon the thickness of at least a portion of the skin layer and/or the desired degree of moldability for the foam item after buffing. Particulate sodium bicarbonate or other types of particles used for buffing may be recycled and reused for further buffing of foam items.
