A double vacuum processing system comprises a first vacuum zone; a second vacuum zone encompassing the first vacuum zone; a first vacuum pump connected to the first vacuum zone and configured to draw a vacuum within the first vacuum zone; a second vacuum pump connected to the second vacuum zone and configured to draw a vacuum within the second vacuum zone; and a diverter valve. A casing defining an internal volume in which at least the moulding members, the first heating body and the thermal insulation members are arranged, and a suction member is configured to lower the internal pressure in the internal volume to compress the preform part between the moulding members.

摘要: A single stage OPF-to-carbon preform shape forming method includes positioning an oxidized PAN fiber preform with a female forming tool, positioning a vacuum bag over the oxidized PAN fiber preform, and vacuum forming the oxidized PAN fiber preform into a shaped body. The vacuum formed shaped body (while still in the shape forming fixture) may be loaded into a carbonization furnace and carbonized. The vacuum bag may be burned away in the carbonization furnace during carbonization.
