摘要： A trash compacting assembly which is selectably coupled to a conventional front loader trash receptacle and operates to compact material disposed in the trash receptacle. The trash compacting assembly includes a base plate sized to sit on top of the top opening of the target trash receptacle, an electrical press operative to selectively generate vertical movement, a guiding system operative to transfer vertical movement from, and a compacting plate for compressing material. In operation, when the trash compacting assembly is locked in place on a target trash receptacle, a user can actuate the electrical press to cause vertical movement generated by the electrical press to be transferred to the compacting plate, by way of the guiding system, thereby moving the compacting plate such that it compresses material in the target receptacle.

In particular, a trash compaction device which can be used on-board aircraft, trains, ships and/or for civil applications and generally in all the locations and/or modes of transportation where the auxiliary service equipment must occupy as little space as possible. The compaction device is formed by a system of hollow telescopic screws (5,6), for example of the recirculating ball type, operated by a motor (2) housed inside the said screws (5,6). The compactor may be conveniently installed in compartments, which are fixed or movable on wheels, such as a trolley, so as to allow easy displacement within the mode of transportation and insertion within the appropriate working spaces.

摘要： A household compactor and separator utilizes linear motion in crushing glass and metal refuse for comminution and separation. A crushing element disposed on a worm shaft crushes refuse against a steel grate, broken glass falling therethrough into a glass receptacle. Crushed metal cans fall into a metal receptacle when the grate is released to swing downwardly. The grate is restored to its original position by pulling control lines via a handle, and the grate is secured by solenoid operated latches. The worm shaft is driven by an electric motor operating through a gear box. The compactor is housed in an enclosure having upper and lower doors and pushbutton controls located in the front. Refuse is inserted through the upper door into a compaction chamber. The glass and metal receptacles are removed through the lower door for emptying. Safety switches sense door, grate, and crushing element positions, inhibiting operation if an unsafe condition is sensed.

摘要： An electrically actuated can crushing apparatus having a housing, a reversible motor mounted within the housing, a threaded shaft coupled for rotation with the output shaft of the motor, and an arm threadingly engaged to the threaded shaft. An antirotation device prohibits the arm from rotation thus permitting the arm to move upwardly and downwardly, dependent upon the direction of rotation of the threaded shaft. An uppermost pressure plate is secured to the arm at an angle skewed to the longitudial axis of the vertically disposed threaded shaft. The housing supports a lowermost pressure plate which is affixed in a horizontal plane and is adapted with an upwardly directed protrusion to accommodate the depression usually found in the base of cans to be crushed. Upon the actuation of the motor, the uppermost pressure plate, which is constantly maintained at a slight angular relationship with the longitudinal axis of the threaded shaft, approaches the lowermost pressure plate. Protusions disposed at selected locations extend downwardly from a lower surface of the uppermost plate and deform the can at the beginning of the can crushing operation. Upon the completion of crushing operation, the uppermost pressure plate returns to its uppermost position at which time the can may be removed from the apparatus preparatory to repeated operations.

摘要： An upper portion of each power screw of a refuse compactor is covered by a protective sleeve to insulate the threads of the screw from refuse. The upper end of the sleeve is loosely retained to the ram to move longitudinally with the ram while yielding to any pivoting of the ram during its downstroke under load. The protective sleeve additionally tends to distribute lubrication along the threads of the power screw during cycling of the ram. A protective skirt mounted to the frame of the compactor insulates a lower portion of the power screw from refuse.

摘要： A compactor for metal cans, particularly beverage cans, which consists of a housing and a lid containing therein a primary chamber cavity terminating at one end in transversely extending cavity extension. With the can in position in the chamber a motorized longitudinal ram crushes the can in a longitudinal direction into the shape of a disc whereupon a cross ram operating in the cavity extension transversely crushes the disc into a pellet. In operation of the device the power driven longitudinal ram compresses the can to a predetermined point whereupon the power driven cross ram automatically starts and the longitudinal ram automatically stops. When maximum compaction has been obtained both rams automatically withdraw to their original position and the pellet falls through an opening in the floor of the cavity extension.

摘要： A refuse compactor structure wherein refuse collected in a flexible, outwardly opening container is compacted by downward movement of a ram thereagainst. The container is laterally supported during the compacting operation by an arrangement of walls substantially fully surrounding the container. The wall arrangement is constricted as a result of a preselected movement of the compacting ram to provide the desired lateral support during the compacting operation. The walls are retracted from the container as an incident of the ram being returned to a retracted position. The container is supported on a movable carrier which may be withdrawn through a front opening of an outer cabinet of the structure for introducing additional refuse into the container or for removing the container as for disposition of the compacted refuse. The carrier supports a door for selectively closing the front opening of the cabinet. The front wall for supporting the container during compaction may be fixedly mounted to the door and may be urged against the container by camming structure concurrently with the inward movement of the sidewalls of the container support. The rear wall for supporting the container during compaction may be fixedly mounted in the structure.
