摘要: An enclosure such as a letter envelope, a casing, shipping pouch, file for, or the like, is made of paper or similar suitable material to have a front portion (3) and a back portion (4) as well as side flaps (6) and (7). The enclosure may be provided with a closure flap (23) that is either part of the front portion (3) or part of the back portion (4). A bottom portion (5) is arranged between the back portion (4) and the front portion (3), whereby the bottom portion is preferably an integral component of the front and back portions. The side flaps (6, 7) are provided with respective folding creases extending longitudinally and foldable bottom side tongues (18, 19) are provided at the bottom end of the side flap (6, 7). These basic features are common to a plurality of different enclosures which provide a substantially larger enclosed volume than heretofore.

摘要: A paper web is unwound and conveyed through an envelope making machine where a side flap cutting device forms side flaps in the side edges of the web. Scorer rollers form longitudinal scores in the side flaps and the side flaps are thereafter folded along the score lines. Other scorer rollers form transverse score lines for the top and bottom flaps of the envelope. Envelope blanks having the folded side flaps are thereafter severed from the web and separated from each other. After the blanks are severed from the web, gum is applied to the upper surface of the side flaps of the severed envelope blanks and the bottom flap is folded into overlying relation with the folded side flaps to form the pocket in the envelope. The so formed envelopes are thereafter collated into overlying relation with the edges of the top flap exposed. Gum is applied to the top flaps and dried. The top flap is then folded into overlying relation with the bottom flap.

摘要: A composite endless form for making flexible, windowed, form, fill and seal bags includes an endless strip of flexible, substantially opaque, paper-like material having a print side thereon with printed indicia thereon and an adhesive side, opposite the print side, with an adhesive thereon. The endless strip of paper-like material includes individual bag forms attached side-to-side thereon, each to be used for making a windowed bag, the endless-strip of paper-like material having a window opening cut in each individual bag form. The window openings are oblong and extend diagonal to a direction of elongation of the composite endless form. A heat-sealable film is adhered to the endless-strip of paper-like material on the adhesive side thereof to cover substantially all of the adhesive side. The composite endless form is placed in a roll to be fed to form, fill and seal machines for making windowed bags.

摘要: A process for making windowed form, fill and seal bags (70) for containing perishable and/or nonperishable goods involves linearly conveying an endless strip of paper-like material (12) through an adhesive application station (14) which applies adhesive to an adhesive side (18) of the endless strip of paper-like material throughout, with the exception of a window area (34) on each individual bag form (36a, b, c, etc.) making up the endless strip. The endless strip is then conveyed through a synchronized window-blanking station (44) which cuts a window blank (54) from each window area so as to form a window opening (50) therein. The adhesive side is then adhered to a transparent plastic heat-sealable film (58). Side edge margins (32) are slit from the endless strip of paper material to leave a composite endless form (10) for, in turn, making the flexible windowed, form, fill and seal bags (70) for containing perishable and/or nonperishable goods. To make these bags, the individual bag forms (36a, b, c, etc.) are cut from the composite endless form material and folded so that the heat-sealable film (58) is in contact with itself at overlapping edges of the bag form and these edges are then heat-sealed together.
