Abstract:
Containers (56) are produced from a sheet of flexible sheet material (10) having a sealable inner layer (12). The material is cut to expose the sealable inner layer when the material is folded upon itself so as to form a container having side seams (58) extending past the end walls of the container to prevent breaching and internal tabs (30) to prevent capillary leakage.
Abstract:
A self-opening style bag formed of a tube with a bottom constructed of folded-inward-portions of side walls and overlying portions of front and rear walls, all folded around a perimeter fold line. The tube provides adhesive strips on portions of the bottom region of the tube to assemble the bottom of the bag wherein at least the front wall and rear wall have transverse adhesive strips applied adjacent the fold line and edge strips along edges in the bottom region. The side walls have adhesive applied along bottom edges thereof. Alternately a heat sealable material is applied over an inside surface of the bag and local heating is used to effect seals. When the side walls are folded inward, they are sealed at all seams in the bottom of the bag to prevent small articles from becoming trapped between seams.
Abstract:
A self-opening style bag formed from a paper tube of rectangular configuration wherein portions of the side walls are folded inward to form a bottom and thereafter are surrounded by folded over portions of the front and rear walls to complete the bottom. Front and rear flaps are cut into the front and rear panels and adhesive is applied to inside surfaces of the front and rear walls in a C-shaped configuration around said flaps, folding the side walls and portions of the front and rear walls inwardly forms a seal across the width of the bottom along the front and rear walls and a seam is formed between the folded over portion of the side panels which completes a sealed integrity of the bottom of the bag.
Abstract:
An enclosure such as a letter envelope, a casing, shipping pouch, file for, or the like, is made of paper or similar suitable material to have a front portion (3) and a back portion (4) as well as side flaps (6) and (7). The enclosure may be provided with a closure flap (23) that is either part of the front portion (3) or part of the back portion (4). A bottom portion (5) is arranged between the back portion (4) and the front portion (3), whereby the bottom portion is preferably an integral component of the front and back portions. The side flaps (6, 7) are provided with respective folding creases extending longitudinally and foldable bottom side tongues (18, 19) are provided at the bottom end of the side flap (6, 7). These basic features are common to a plurality of different enclosures which provide a substantially larger enclosed volume than heretofore.
Abstract:
A bag construction comprising an outer bag and an inner bag contained therewithin and a method of making the same. The bag has an independent unitary construction. The bag construction is made from a tube length having inner and outer portions, by cross sealing the inner portion and folding the outer portion into a rectangularly shaped bottom.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed of constructing a flat bottom in a plastic film tube having an open upper end, a closed lower end formed by a transverse seal, forward and rearward sides and a pair of opposing pleated sides that interconnect the forward and rearward sides. The method includes the steps of releasably engaging a lower vacuum and a lower clamp with a transverse section of the rearward side of the tube to provisionally hold the transverse section. A lateral section of the forward side is gripped and raised by an upper vacuum and an upper clamp to expose a portion of the pleated sides such that first and second pockets are formed, respectively, in the sides. The sealed lower end is drawn toward the upper end to fold the tube along first and second transverse fold lines in the forward side, along a third transverse fold line in the transverse section of the rearward side, and along fourth and fifth fold lines, respectively, in the pleated sides such that the first and second pockets are located in the pleated sides, respectively between the first and third fold lines and the lower end of the bag. Pressure is applied to the tube to form creases along the first, third, fourth and fifth fold lines, which define the perimeter of the flat bottom of the tube.
Abstract:
The bottom of a gusseted, square-bottom bag is sealed by applying a fin seal, a cross seal which intersects the fin seal, and a third seal at the intersection of the fin seal and the cross seal.
Abstract:
An apparatus for processing baglike container blanks by fitting the blank around a pair of forming plates arranged at a distance from each other in parallel, folding a pair of triangular ears flat while projecting the ears sidewise from the portion of the blank to be made into the bottom of a finished rectangular parallelepipidal container, and press-bonding the projected ears to outer surface portions of the trunk of the container at the lateral sides thereof after folding the ears over the outer surface portions. The apparatus includes a device for press-bonding the triangular ears, which comprises a pair of press members and a support member positionable therebetween. Each lateral side trunk portion and each ear folded thereover are clamped between the support member and the press member respectively from inside and outside the blank.
Abstract:
A package of the type used to contain one or more products to be carried out of a store or restaurant, includes a paperboard base tray having tapered side walls and a tapered, flexible bag portion made, for example, of transparent plastic film. The sleeve forming the bag portion is attached to the side walls of the base. The package thus has a rigid, smooth inner bottom for supporting upstanding articles, such as drink cups, has the capability of being nested in an open configuration for storage, and can be made from a minimum of materials.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a receptacle (10), in particular a flexible bag (10) made of paper, with a front part (20), a back part (30) and a bottom (50), which is closed by a bottom unit, and with an opening (1) lying opposite the bottom (50), wherein the bottom unit has a bottom portion (120) of the front part (20) and a bottom portion (130) of the back part (30), the bottom portion (130) of the back part (30) is shorter than the bottom portion (120) of the front part (20), such that the bottom portion (120) of the front part (20) is secured directly on the back part (30) by turning the bottom unit (100) back along a fold line (101), and the opening (1) is formed by a peripheral edge (2) which extends at a height of the front part (20) and of the back part (30) and which is at least partially frayed, thereby reducing the danger of injury at the edge (2).
