    摘要: A platen for a typewriter, is rotated intermittently by pulsing a winding to establish flux between poles of a stator and a rotor, which rotates through a fixed angle and then back to a datum position under the action of a spring. The magnetic flux also engages an electro magnetic clutch formed by the rotor and a part rotationally fast with the platen so that the platen is rotated only during the forward rotation of the rotor. The stator, rotor and said part are all coaxial with the platen and may be housed inside the platen.

    摘要: A line feed mechanism for use with high speed, lead screw driven printers, such as of the dot matrix type, utilizes a solenoid with a dual pivotal armature to effect the coupling of a uniquely mounted and eccentrically displaceable platen gear to a lead screw connected gear. As such, single or multiple platen controlled line feeding is effected in a manner which is correlated with the linear advancement of the carriage-mounted and lead screw-driven print head. The pivotal armature, when actuated, is also employed to hold a detent lever out of engagement with a ratchet wheel associated with the platen during multiple line feeding. This advantageously obviates the "clatter" sound otherwise generated, with but one solenoid being required for both variable line feeding and ratchet wheel release. As the stepping motor for the lead screw may be readily controlled for bi-directional rotation, so to may the silently operated platen be rotated, independently of carriage position, so as to allow various specialized printing and line scanning operations to be performed.

    摘要: A device for controlling the rotary movement of a platen roller of a typewriter comprises a bidirectional electric motor coupled to the platen by a worm gear and gear wheel and a pair of knobs which are disposed at the sides of the platen and which are rotatable with respect thereto. The knobs are fixed to a bar which extends rotatably through the platen roller and carries the gear wheel. Selective bidirectional rotation of the knobs causes corresponding rotary movement of a disc in a transducer. The disc has a toothed sector in mesh with the gear wheel and is the moving part of a rotary switch which generates electrical signals which determine both the power supply to the electric motor and the direction of rotation thereof. Small degrees of rotary movement of the knobs against a first spring force establish continuous rotary movement of the platen roller at low speed. A further slight rotary movement of the knobs against a stronger spring force establishes rotary movement of the platen at high speed.

    摘要: A paper feeding apparatus in a printer, wherein a sheet of paper placed on a rotary support member is fed by a predetermined distance through a corresponding angle of rotation of a drive motor which is energized by a drive circuit under control of a control device which applies a control signal to the drive circuit to give a predetermined angle of rotation to the drive motor and thereby effect a paper feeding cycle each time the control signal is applied. The control device includes control means for adapting the control signal so as to progressively increase the operating speed of the drive motor up to a predetermined level when the application of the control signal takes place more than a predetermined time interval after termination of the previous paper feeding cycle. When the application of the control signal takes place within the predetermined time interval, the control means adapts the control signal so as to cause the drive motor to operate at a constant speed equal to the predetermined level throughout the predetermined angle of rotation thereof.
