Abstract:
A run flat tire wheel assembly having a run flat support member formed by a ring-shaped metal shell and rubbery elastic members in an inside cavity of a tire/rim, wherein the rubbery elastic member comprises a rubber composition including (A) 100 parts by weight of a diene-based rubber and (B) (i) 0.1 to 5 parts by weight of cobalt acetyl acetonate and/or (B) (ii) (a), as a reinforcing filler, 40 to 90 parts by weight of carbon black/silica in a ratio of 10/1 to 1/2 (weight ratio) and (b) 1 to 20% by weight based upon the weight of the silica, of a silane coupling agent, whereby the bondability between the ring-shaped metal shell and rubbery elastic members is improved.
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a support, a support manufacturing method, and a pneumatic run-flat tire by which predetermined strength is ensured while lightening is achieved. An aluminum tube 54 is electromagnetically formed and a support (supporting portion) is manufactured. Due to this, process hardening can be avoided and it can be formed in the desired shape. Further, at this time, due to exhaust holes 64 provided in the metal molds 52A, 52B, discharging of the air intervening between the metal molds 52A, 52B and the aluminum tube 54 at the time of forming is performed, and the support can be formed with good precision. The support 16 having the shell 26 made from an aluminum alloy formed in this manner is formed in a predetermined shape with good precision while being sufficiently lightened, and if a run-flat tire including this support 16 is installed on a vehicle, the gas mileage and handling of the vehicle can be improved.
Abstract:
The present inventions are a run-flat tire and a tire/wheel assembly in which the workability of the tire-to-rim fit has been improved while including a core-type run-flat support member. The tire/wheel assembly is formed by fitting a pneumatic tire into a wheel rim. In the tire/wheel assembly, the run-flat support member constituted of a circular shell and elastic rings is inserted into a cavity of the pneumatic tire, in which the circular shell has a support surface thereof extended toward the periphery of the tire and leg portions along each end of the support surface, and the elastic rings are attached to the leg portions of the circular shell. Meanwhile, stages extending in a tire circumferential direction are formed on the inner walls of a pair of right and left beads in the pneumatic tire, and the elastic rings are locked into the stages.
Abstract:
An emergency support member is provided for a vehicle wheel and tire assembly having a pneumatic tire that is mounted on a wheel rim. The support member is embodied as a dished annular member within the tire, and has an emergency support surface for supporting the tire in the event of damage thereto. The annular member extends axially from the center of the rim and symmetrically over a portion of the width thereof. The annular member has a curved contour, with the two axially outer wall regions being supported upon the wheel rim via annular support elements. The dished annular member is embodied as a split ring that is not closed over its periphery, and is provided with a closure device for closing off the slit. The closure device includes two flanges that extend essentially radially inwardly relative to the rim. The closure device also includes at least one locking clamp for connecting the flanges.
Abstract:
The run-flat supporting body (1) is configured of the annular shell (2) and elastic rings (3) and (3). The annular shell (2) works as a supporting surface on an outer peripheral side, and bifurcates into two leg portions on an inner peripheral side. In addition, the annular shell (2) is provided with a large number of the through holes (4) in wall surfaces thereof. The elastic rings (3) and (3) are attached respectively to the two leg portions of the annular shell (2). The run-flat supporting body 1 is supported on a rim of a wheel with the elastic rings (3) and (3). According to a configuration of the present invention, peripheries of the respective through holes (4) are thickened, residual stresses are applied to the peripheries of the respective through holes (4), or each through hole (4) is formed into an elliptic shape having the major axis in a circumferential direction.
Abstract:
Provided is a run-flat support body (1) for a pneumatic tire, in which an outer peripheral side of an annular shell (2) serves as a support surface for supporting an inner surface of the tire (T); an inner peripheral side of the annular shell (2) straddles in the form of a bifurcation; elastic rings (3) and (3) are attached respectively to two leg parts (2b) and (2b) of the annular shell (2); and the annular shell (2) is supported on a rim (Rm) of a wheel with the elastic rings (3) and (3). The elastic rings (3) and (3) are composed of a composite elastic material formed by compounding reinforcement fillers in an elastic material. Accordingly, compressive rigidity of the elastic rings in a radial direction of the tire is made larger than that of the unreinforced elastic rings in the tire radial direction, the unreinforced elastic rings being composed of a single elastic material in which the reinforcement fillers are not compounded. Moreover, bending rigidity of the elastic rings in an axial direction of the tire is made substantially equal to that of the unreinforced elastic rings in the tire axial direction, the unreinforced elastic rings being composed of a single elastic material in which the reinforcement fillers are not compounded.
