    摘要: An emergency support member is provided for a vehicle wheel and tire assembly having a pneumatic tire that is mounted on a wheel rim. The support member is embodied as a dished annular member within the tire, and has an emergency support surface for supporting the tire in the event of damage thereto. The annular member extends axially from the center of the rim and symmetrically over a portion of the width thereof. The annular member has a curved contour, with the two axially outer wall regions being supported upon the wheel rim via annular support elements. The dished annular member is embodied as a split ring that is not closed over its periphery, and is provided with a closure device for closing off the slit. The closure device includes two flanges that extend essentially radially inwardly relative to the rim. The closure device also includes at least one locking clamp for connecting the flanges.

    摘要: A pneumatic vehicle tire with a wound bandage and a method for its manufacture are provided. In order to avoid discontinuities of the wound bandage within the area of the edges of the reinforcement belt, it is suggested to provide the strips of material for manufacturing the bandage with a narrow width in the area of the edges of the reinforcement belt and with a wide width at the center portion of the reinforcement belt. This is achieved by providing at least two strips of varying width and winding them onto the reinforcement belt such that the narrow strip of material is arranged at the edges of the reinforcement belt.

    摘要: Vehicle wheel that includes a pneumatic tire mounted on a wheel rim. The pneumatic tire includes a tire tread, two side-walls, a carcass, reinforcing elements, and two tire beads with bead cores. The vehicle wheel also includes an emergency support body, mounted on the wheel rim and positioned inside the pneumatic tire. The emergency support body includes an emergency rolling surface to support the tire in case of a failure of the pneumatic tire. The emergency rolling surface includes a radially exterior surface of a ring torus with a bowl-shaped cross section, and the ring torus includes axially exterior sections having cross-sectional contours with first curvatures open to the wheel rim and an intermediate section positioned between the axially exterior sections having a contour with a second curvature open to a crest point of the pneumatic tire. The first and second curvatures include at least one radius of curvature and at least one supporting element is positioned to support the ring torus on the wheel rim.

    摘要: Process and apparatus for improving a concentricity of a pneumatic vehicle tire having a bead. The process includes subjecting at least a portion of the bead, after vulcanization, to a plastic deformation post-treatment. The post-treatment improves the concentricity of the tire. The apparatus includes a drum having a surface which engages a radially inner bead seat surface of the tire. The drum includes at least one of an internal heating mechanism and an internal cooling mechanism. The drum is adapted to plastically deform at least a portion of the bead of the tire so as to affect at least one of a first, a second, and a third harmonic. The plastic deformation improves the concentricity of the tire.
