Abstract: An outboard motor includes an engine, a fuel pump to draw fuel into an outboard motor body from a fuel tank installed on a hull, a temporary storage tank to temporarily store the fuel drawn into the outboard motor body by the fuel pump, a fuel injector to inject the fuel stored in the temporary storage tank into the engine, a temperature sensor on the temporary storage tank to detect a temperature of the fuel stored in the temporary storage tank, and a controller configured or programmed to perform a control to limit an engine speed to no more than a predetermined upper limit rotation speed based on a detection result of the temperature sensor while the engine is running.

Abstract: A vessel propulsion apparatus includes an engine that rotates a crankshaft in a forward rotation direction, a rotation speed detector that detects a rotation speed of the crankshaft, a propeller shaft coupled to a propeller, a shift switch that switches between a shift-in state and a neutral state, a shift state detector, an intake passage, a throttle valve, an intake pressure sensor, and a controller. The controller determines that the crankshaft is reversely rotating by an external force input from the propeller shaft when a predetermined reverse rotation recording condition is satisfied, and stores reverse rotation information. The reverse rotation recording condition includes a condition that an intake pressure after the shift switch switches from a neutral state to a shift-in state while the crankshaft rotates in the forward rotation direction is larger than a value equal to or higher than atmospheric pressure.

Abstract: An outboard motor includes an internal combustion engine powering the outboard motor and a cowl covering the engine and having a vent allowing air under the cowl. A throttle body meters flow of the air into the engine and an intake structure downstream of the throttle body delivers the metered airflow to one or more combustion chambers in a cylinder block of the engine. A sound enhancement assembly in acoustic communication with the intake structure collects sounds emitted by the engine. The sound enhancement assembly is configured to amplify a subset of the collected sounds that have frequencies within a desired frequency range. A method for modifying sounds produced by an air intake system of an internal combustion engine powering an outboard motor is also disclosed. The method includes positioning a sound enhancement assembly in acoustic communication with an air intake passageway located downstream of the engine's throttle body.

Abstract: A flushing system for boat motors that allows for single-handed manipulation to remotely position flushing ears onto the intake vents of an outboard boat motor. A water passage tube provides a source of fresh water when flushing or performing maintenance on the motor of a boat stored on a lift. The flushing ears are positioned on the intake valves and are adjusted to form a seal by a gripping handle. A locking device prevents movement of the ears while flushing the motor and can be released to remove the ears once the flushing is complete.
