    摘要: A compound vertical takeoff and landing aircraft includes a fuselage with a modular payload configuration for passenger, cargo, or medical transport functions; contra-rotating main rotors mounted on an upper side of the fuselage and driven by at least one motor; and a plurality of tiltable thrusters mounted respectively at a forward section and at an aft section of the fuselage, each tiltable thruster being powered by one or more separate motors. The motors driving the contra-rotating main rotors and the tiltable thrusters may all be electric. The tiltable thrusters may be ducted or unducted and may each be provided with one or more control surfaces at an aft end. Battery modules may be located underneath a floor of the fuselage and may be arranged in one or more groups of batteries so as to so as to facilitate removal and replacement of the batteries.

    摘要: An electrically-powered VTOL aircraft has a fuselage with a cabin flexibly connected to a powerplane assembly that includes a plurality of electrically-powered rotors and booms. The powerplane assembly can pitch and roll relative to and independently of the cabin, thereby generating efficient fore, aft and lateral thrust while the cabin attitude remains unchanged. This provides a stable passenger experience and enhanced performance and controllability with reduced cost and complexity. In some embodiments, the fuselage is vertically elongated and the powerplane assembly mounts above the fuselage such that a person may walk beneath the rotors completely erect. A VTOL docking station is also disclosed that is configured to allow the aircraft to land without the use of landing gear. The docking station also includes electrical components configured to automatically provide charging to the aircraft when the aircraft is docked with the docking station.

    摘要: The aircraft can include: an airframe, a tilt mechanism, a payload housing, and can optionally include an impact attenuator, a set of ground support members (e.g., struts), a set of power sources, and a set of control elements. The airframe can include: a set of rotors and a set of support members. By utilizing a larger rotor blade area (and/or larger rotor disc area) and adjusting the blade pitch and RPM, the rotors can augment the lift generated by the aerodynamic profile of the aircraft in the forward flight mode in addition to providing forward thrust. Variants generating lift with the rotors can reduce or eliminate additional control surfaces (e.g., wing flaps, ailerons, ruddervators, elevators, rudder, etc.) on the aircraft since the thrust and motor torque is controllable (thereby indirectly controlling lift) at each rotor, thereby enabling pitch, yaw, and/or roll control during forward flight.

    摘要: A portion of a vehicle includes occupant zones in rows. First and second of the occupant zones are adjacent rows and the portion of the vehicle further includes access points arranged for user ingress into the vehicle. Each access point is located positionally asymmetric with all opposing access points of the portion. Further the access points include first and second access points located about the portion such that the direction of ingress through the first access point is substantially opposed to the direction of ingress through the second. The first occupant zone is the nearest to the first access point and the second occupant zone is the nearest to the second access point. The first occupant zone is to be preferentially accessed by user ingress from the first access point, and the second occupant zone is to be preferentially accessed by user ingress from the second access point.
