A ventilation line and an air flow producer draw air from the storage tank, placing the tank under negative pressure and preventing noxious odors from escaping into the facility. A rigid suction line extends from the interior of the storage tank to points external to the tank and the facility itself. A suction truck periodically removes the waste stored in the tank, applying suction to the suction line to draw the stored waste into a portable tank aboard the truck. The suction truck transports the waste to a disposal site where the well-divided waste may be expelled onto and incorporated by tilling into soil for decomposition by soil organisms.

A system and method are provided for a food loading station having a disposer that grinds food waste that is located at a facility that processes food waste. A storage tank receives a slurry of food waste and water from the disposer for storage until the slurry is collected for transportation to an anaerobic digestion facility. An agitator is installed in the storage tank for mixing the slurry stored in the storage tank prior to collection for transportation to the anaerobic digestion facility. A discharge outlet is installed on the storage tank for connection to a discharge hose of a collection truck. The discharge outlet has an air admittance valve for admitting ambient air into the discharge hose while the slurry is sucked out of the storage tank through the discharge hose and into the collection truck.

A method and apparatus is described for the handling of waste material, refuse and the like. Such waste material is normally deposited in large sized trash cans each of which are provided with an opening located near the closed bottom end thereof. A mobile unit is provided with suction generating means coupled to a flexible elongated hose of relatively large diameter. The flexible elongated hose, preferably of a corrugated type, has an outwardly directed flange spaced inwardly from its free end and adapted to be seated upon the upper circular edge of a trash can with the marginal portion of the free end of the hose protruding slightly into the interior of the can. Energization of the suction generating means enables the contents of the refuse container to be easily and rapidly removed.
