Abstract: A suspended surface assembly is provided having a trainable surface support element, a spindle component configured for training of the trainable surface support element therearound, a take-up action module configured to drivingly rotate the spindle component to thereby effect winding of the trainable surface support element onto the spindle component or to effect unwinding of the trainable surface support element from a partially or fully wound-up condition, and a lift complex for adjusting the vertical position of the trainable surface support element and the spindle component, the lift complex including a motive power element operable to both drivingly rotate the spindle component and to drivingly raise and lower the trainable surface support element and the spindle component. A method for operating the suspended surface assembly is also provided.

Abstract: The measured winding diameter values Ds1(d) corresponding to the conveying distance d are measured by measuring the diameter of the printing medium M wound on the unwinding roll 71 by the diameter sensor 77. An operation of calculating the difference Ddiff1(d) between the calculated winding diameter value Dc1(d) and the smoothed winding diameter value Ds_avg1(d) while compensating for the delay by the low-pass filter is performed whereby the differences Ddiff1(d) are calculated. The calculated winding diameter value Dc1(d) are corrected by the differences Ddiff1(d).

Abstract: A roll-to-roll paper web feeding system for a laser printer. The paper web is unwound from a roll supported in the unwind machine by a single conveyor belt driven at a speed that varies to match the web feed to the speed of the printer. A pivotably mounted beam houses the belt and can be raised to permit replacement of the roll. A shock absorber acts between the beam and the machine frame to maintain contact between the belt and the paper roll. Replacement of the belt is facilitated by a unique latch acting on the support shaft for a sprocket at the free end of the beam provided for the belt. The paper web is rewound on a roll provided in the rewind machine. Tension must be kept high enough in the paper web to assure a tightly wrapped roll in the rewind machine. This fact requires a friction, or drag roller, to maintain at least one free loop of web, and this drag roller can be replaced quickly as a result of shifting it laterally to decouple the coupling provided at one end of the drag or friction roller.
