摘要: The present disclosure is directed to a method of transferring discrete articles between a transfer assembly and an apparatus comprising a head. The transfer assembly comprises a frame defining a first rotation axis and a transfer member comprising a transfer surface configured to receive one of the discrete articles. The method comprises rotating the transfer member of the transfer assembly about the first rotation axis at a substantially constant angular velocity, maintaining the transfer surface at a substantially constant minimum distance away from a surface of the head at a point of discrete article transfer, and rotating the head of the apparatus about a second rotation axis at a plurality of angular velocities. A first angular velocity of the head is substantially constant at the point of discrete article transfer.

摘要: An apparatus for transferring articles such as absorbent cores or disposable diaper chassis components from a rotary mechanism, such as a pad turner, to a linear mechanism, such as a conveyor, for further processing. The invention provides a device for picking an article from the outside of a toroidal surface, thence extending transversely under tension the article to be transferred so that at the point of deposition the article is held flat and at full length. Further, the invention allows for apparatus to match the velocity of both the first and second transfer points, even if these velocities are not the same. The device is of particular benefit where an article to be transferred is subject to internally biasing elastic forces.

摘要: An absorbent article comprising an absorbent body enclosed between a liquid-permeable liner sheet layer and a liquid-impermeable backsheet layer is disclosed. The article has a longitudinal axis, a relatively wide anterior end and an opposite posterior end connected by side margins to define a generally triangular shape. The side margins substantially continuously converge to the posterior end, and at least one tab extends from each side margin. There is at least one attachment element aligned oblique to the longitudinal axis of the article that is associated with each tab. A method of placing an attachment element onto an absorbent article at an angle that is oblique to a machine direction is also disclosed, along with a product formed by the method. A first attachment element is separated from a first supply of attachment material that is aligned in a machine direction and is rotated from the machine direction to a predetermined angle that is oblique to the machine direction. This attachment element is indexed to an absorbent article moving in the machine direction and is applied to the absorbent article. A second attachment element may be similarly applied to the absorbent article, and it may be aligned opposite the first attachment element. An apparatus for placing at least one attachment element onto an absorbent product at an angle that is oblique to a machine direction is also disclosed.

摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for affixing a supplementary product (22) to a printed product (36). According to the invention, in order to pick up the supplementary product (22), holding elements (12) driven along a circulation path (26) have at least one suction element (24, 25). In order to bend the initially flat supplementary product (22) in such a way that it can be placed around an edge (36c) of the printed product (36), there is at least one bending element (18). This is capable of acting on the supplementary product (22) held on one side by the suction element (24, 25) in such a way that the said supplementary product (22) is bent at least approximately in a V shape. Holding element (12) and bending element (18) interact with a supporting element (44) in such a way that the supplementary product (22), reaching over an edge (36c) of the printed product (36), is pressed onto two opposite sides (36a, 36b) of the printed product (36).

摘要: A method and device for transporting flat, flexible products away from a stack of the products. The leading edge of each individual product is bent away downward from the underside of the stack of products by means of a suction element. The individual product is then transported away by means of a gripper that grips the leading edge region. The direction of movement of the gripper in the region of the underside of the stack of products runs substantially from the leading edge region to the trailing edge region of the products in the stack of products.
