摘要: According to exemplary systems and methods, signs are created using a document-processing device. The signs are removed from a processing path of the document-processing device using a transport device to move the signs to a compiler. Ordered stacks of the signs are compiled in the compiler. The signs are temporarily held in the compiler during a first operation of a collating system. Following actuation and reset of the collating system, the signs are moved to the collating system. The collating system includes a ramped collator that moves interim stacks of signs received from the compiler from the ramps of the ramped collator toward a final collated stack according to job-specific instructions.

摘要: A method of packaging print media in combination with a printing device enables the printing device to automatically determine the type of media, and its characteristics and attributes, loaded in a media input tray. The print media package includes a pre-cut or perforated line which allows the removal of one end of the package forming a partial package exposing one end of sheets of the print media and encasing the print media. The print media is loaded in the media input tray encased in the partial package with the exposed ends of the print media sheets accessible to the printing device feed roller. The print media package includes an identifying code imprinted on an outside surface of the package located on the remaining portion of the package when the package end has been removed. The media input tray includes a sensor mounted in a location accessible to the identifying code when the print media encased in the partial package is loaded in the media input tray. When the loaded media input tray is inserted in the printing device, the sensor reads the identifying code and transmits the encoded information to the printing device control circuitry where the printing device media settings are updated.

摘要: An automated system and method for applying thermoplastic adhesives to work pieces from a roll of adhesive segments applied to an adhesive segment-laden carrier release tape. The present invention may be implemented in a system that automatically advances the adhesive segment-laden carrier release tape to position an adhesive segment thereon in the apparatus for application thereof to a work piece. Accurate indexing and advancement of the adhesive segment-laden carrier release tape preferably is provided by optical indexing of the carrier release tape, e.g., by the optical detection of a transverse line or other index marking printed or otherwise provided on the adhesive segment carrier release along with the adhesive segments deposited thereon.
