摘要: Apparatus for shaping at least one glass sheet wherein a lower press ring and an upper press ring are configured to clamp a perimeter section of the glass sheet between the lower press ring and the upper press ring. The apparatus also includes an inner press at least partially disposed within the upper press ring and configured to shape at least a section of the glass sheet inside the perimeter section of the glass sheet, including forming by use of applied vacuum. The inner press may include openings that apply vacuum in selected areas of the inner press to vacuum form the ply within the selected areas. To control the ply on the upper press assembly, vacuum that is applied through passageways in the upper press ring to the gap between the upper press ring and the inner press is controlled through a seal in the gap. The upper press ring includes pivotal joints that increase adjustability of the forming surface of the upper press ring to the face surface of the inner press. The inner press is fixed to a top plate so that the inner press and the top plate move together. The inner press is moveable within limits with respect to the upper press ring. As a suspension assembly and the top plate are lowered, guides on the top plate engage reciprocal counterparts on the carrying frame to laterally align the upper press ring to the lower press ring. Stops on the upper press ring engage stops on the carrying frame to limit the descending vertical movement of the upper press ring. Thereafter, the inner press descends under gravity force as the inner press moves vertically downward through the upper press ring. After the upper press ring contacts the stop on the carrying frame to arrest vertical descent of the upper press ring, the suspension assembly decouples from the top plate and the inner press continues to move downwardly under gravity forces to shape the center part of the ply. The vertical descent of the inner press is arrested when the top plate contacts the upper press ring. In this way, the outer press ring and the lower press ring clamp the ply before the inner press shapes the center of the ply in response to gravity forces on the inner press. To unclamp the ply, the suspension assembly is vertically raised to cause the suspension assembly to re-couple with the top plate. The suspension assembly first moves the inner press upwardly as rods that are threaded into the upper press ring pass through holes in the top plate. When stops on the rod ends engage the top plate, further upward vertical movement of the suspension assembly lifts the upper press ring together with the inner press.

摘要: A method of making a 3D glass article includes forming at least one marker on an edge of a 2D glass piece. The 2D glass piece is thermally reformed into a 3D glass article, where the at least one marker formed on the edge of the 2D glass piece is carried over to an edge of the 3D glass article. The 3D glass article is aligned on a support using the at least one marker on the edge of the 3D glass article. Then, the edge of the 3D glass article is finished to a final shape and dimension.

摘要: The electric lamp/reflector unit has a molded reflector body (1) comprising a hollow neck-shaped portion (5). An electric lamp (10) having a lamp vessel (1), enclosing a space (12) in which an electric element (13) is arranged, and provided with a first (14) and a second, opposed end portion (15) is fixed at its first end portion (14) within the neck-shaped portion (5). At least one outer current conductor (16, 17) extends from the electric element (13) to the outer surface (23) of the lamp/reflector unit via a punched duct (25) in the reflector portion (2) of the molded reflector body (1). Said duct essentially extends in a direction transverse to the outer surface of the reflector body.

摘要: For example, the reflector according to the present invention is a reflector made of glass for a projector which is composed of amorphous glass whose thermal expansion coefficient is 30 to 45×10−7/° C. and includes a reflective surface for reflecting light emitted from a light source and an opening for inserting a light source bulb or a conductor to the light source bulb, in which the opening is smoothed by heat-treating the surface thereof after opening-drilling, thus mechanical damage is removed from the processed part.

摘要: A method for making perforations or forming depressions in a glass work piece is described. Pursuant to the method, a two piece housing for the work piece is provided. The housing when assembled has a cavity conforming in size and shape to the work piece. The lower housing piece has a continuous upper surface and the upper housing piece has a smooth lower surface and openings in the housing piece conforming in size and position to the perforations or depressions desired to be made in the work piece. The work piece is enclosed in the housing and then plugs are inserted in the openings in the upper housing piece. The plugs snugly fit the openings and extend above the upper surface of the upper housing piece. A weight is then disposed on the upper surface of the plugs. The weight may be a flat metal sheet and is of sufficient weight to cause the plugs to exert a pressure of at least about one half pound per square inch on the work piece. The resulting assembly is then subjected to a temperature intermediate the softening point and the working point of the work piece and the temperature is maintained until descent of the plugs into the work piece ceases. The assembly is then cooled to ambient temperature, the work piece is removed from the housing and then the plugs are removed from the work piece.

摘要: A METHOD OF MAKING AMPULES AND RELEASING A PARTIAL VACUUM IN THE GLASS AMPULE, CREATED WHEN GLASS AMPULES ARE FORMED FROM TUBING, BY USING A SMALL HYDROGEN-OXYGEN FLAME ABOUT 0.005" IN PORT DIAMETER TO EFFECT A SELF-SEALING HOLE IN THE AMPLE, AND EQUALIZING ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE WITHIN THE AMPULE, PERMITTING THE AMPULE TO BE OPENED, FOR FILLING, IN A SUBSEQUENT OPERATION, WITHOUT DRAWING GLASS PARTICLES INTO THE AMPULE, DUE TO THE IN-RUSHING ATMOSPHERE, DURING THE SECOND OPENING PROCEDURE. STERILE WATER VAPOR, PRODUCED BY THE FLAME, FILLS THE AMPULE TO THE EXCLUSION OF ATMOSPHERIC AIR AND MAINTAINS THE INTERIOR OF THE AMPULE IN ITS ORIGINAL STERILE CONDITION DURING THE VACUUM RELEASE.
