The plant supplements comprise calcium, magnesium and plant-available silica, most typically in a single liquid non-coagulating solution. Optionally, the plant supplements may further comprise iron, nitrogen, willow tree bark extract, humic acid, fulvic acid, aloe vera, trace minerals, electrolytes, beneficial microbes and/or other non-plant food ingredients. Aspects of the present invention also provide methods of formulating and administering plant supplements for promoting plant growth and production, and for protecting plants from environmental stress factors.

The invention concerns a method of producing passivated urea or urea based compounds for fertilizer blends wherein the urea particles are treated with a mineral acid that reacts with urea and creates a grasping layer. Thereafter a solid base in powder form is added in excess to the particles to coat the acidified particle surface. The invention also concerns a fertilizer blend comprising the passivated urea or urea based compounds with one or more of AN or AN-based compound, NS products, superphosphates, and more generally with a priori most compounds that urea is susceptible to react with when in direct contact. A safe blend comprises more than 40 weight % of the passivated urea.

The invention provides for methods, devices, and systems for pyrolyzing biomass. A pyrolysis unit can be used for the pyrolysis of biomass to form gas, liquid, and solid products. The biomass materials can be selected such that an enhanced biochar is formed after pyrolysis. The biomass can be pyrolyzed under specified conditions such that a selected biochar core is formed. The pyrolysis process can form a stable biochar core that is inert and/or resistant to degradation. The biochar or biochar core can be functionalized to form a functionalized biochar or functionalized biochar core. Functionalization can include post-pyrolysis treatments such as supplementation with microbes or physical transformations including annealing and/or activation.
