Abstract:
Compositions are provided comprising a polymer processing aid, and from about 5% to about 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of a microbiocidal compound, said microbiocidal compound being present as the solute in an aryl alkanol solvent, and the aryl alkanol solvent being present in an amount such that the weight ratio of the aryl alkanol solvent to microbiocidal compound is from about 3/1 to about 5/1.
Abstract:
In accordance with this invention there are provided organic antimony stabilizer compositions effective in stabilizing halogen containing organic polymers against the deteriorative effects of heat comprising (1) at least one organic antimony compound having at least one antimony to sulfur to carbon (i.e. Sb-S-C) linkage, (2) elemental sulfur, and (3) at least one 2-mercaptocarboxylic acid. Said 2-mercaptocarboxylic acid and elemental sulfur also serve to provide hydrolytic and UV light stability to the antimony compound per se. Also provided are stabilized organic polymer compositions comprising a halogen containing polymer and said organic antimony stabilizer composition.
Abstract:
Compounds of the formula I, II, III or IV ##STR1## wherein X is halogen, OH, --OR.sup.1, --OOCR.sup.2, --OOC--R.sup.4 --COOR.sup.3 or --N(R.sup.5)(R.sup.6), or the two X groups together form a group --O--R.sup.9 --O-- or --OOC--R.sup.9 --COO--, Y has one of the meanings given for X, or it is --NHR.sup.5, --NHNH.sub.2 or --NHNH-phenyl, Z has one of the meanings given for X, or is --SR, and R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.9 and R' are organic radicals having the meanings defined hereinbelow, are thermal stabilizers for chlorine-containing thermoplastics particularly for PVC. Their effect can be further intensified by the addition of co-stabilizers.
Abstract:
Organo-antimony compounds of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 acyl, R' is C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 acyl, and X is sulfur or oxygen. The compounds are stabilizers for halogen-containing polymers.
Abstract:
Novel compositions and use therefore as stabilizers during the production of vinyl halide resins are disclosed which comprise antimony mercaptides having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein K is 1 to 4;L is 0 to 1;M is 1 to 4;N is 1 to 4;X is oxygen or sulfur; andR is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and combinations thereof.Such compositions when used during vinyl halide resin processing retard discoloration and mechanical degradation at least as effectively as previously known antimony mercaptides while being more economical to produce.
Abstract:
Tri(dibromoneopentyl) antimonite is a solid composition formed by the transesterification of antimony triesters with dibromoneopentylene glycol. This antimonite composition is useful as a flame retardant in plastic formulations.
Abstract:
Polyamide and polyester fibers and molding compounds are rendered flame retardant by incorporation into the melt thereof of a complex salt of a polyvalent metal and a hydroxycarboxylic acid, preferably also with boric acid. Preferred complex salts include the subgallates, borocitrates and borotartrates of antimony, aluminum and the alkaline earth metals. The fibers may be tufted to form flame retardant carpets.
Abstract:
Pressure-sensitive adhesive incorporates an hydroxyl-containing polymer with alkyl silicon, boron or CO containing compounds. The hydroxyl-containing polymer is a rubbery polymer having an alkadienol constituent.
