Abstract:
An automatic ammonia hydroxide deployment system comprises an ammonia hydroxide deployment device and an automatic ammonia hydroxide deployment controlling device. The ammonia hydroxide deployment device includes a chamber for storing ammonia hydroxide, an ammonia pipe and a water pipe. The automatic ammonia hydroxide deployment controlling device includes an electrical conductivity meter, a liquid level sensor and an operating controller. The electrical conductivity meter is for detecting an electrical conductivity of the ammonia hydroxide in the chamber. The operating controller is configured to obtain an ammonia concentration of the ammonia hydroxide according to the electrical conductivity of the ammonia hydroxide. The operating controller adjusts ammonia gas flowing into the chamber according to whether the ammonia concentration is less than a predetermined threshold or not, and adjusts water flowing into the chamber according to whether the liquid level is lower than a predetermined lower threshold or not.
Abstract:
Disclosed are quaternary ammonium carbonates, bicarbonates, and mixtures thereof as anti-corrosive agents. The invention relates to a method for inhibiting the corrosion of metal surfaces by applying a composition containing one or more quaternary ammonium carbonate or bicarbonate. The disclosure is also directed to anti-corrosive coating for metal substrates containing these compounds, to metal substrates having these anticorrosive coatings, and to aqueous cleaning solutions containing these compounds.
Abstract:
It has been found that the chemical reactivity of the metal surface of heat exchangers with coolants in presence of nitrites can be reduced by the addition of additives such as phosphonates or phosphinates. Aluminum , other Group III metals, as well as other metals commonly used in cooling systems, such as those of automobile engines, may thus be effectively protected.
Abstract:
A method of resisting corrosion in concrete containing metal elements is provided. It includes introducing into fresh concrete, containing metal elements, at least one compound capable of sequestering chloride ions. The method may also involve employing a compound which is capable of establishing a corrosion resistant oxide layer on the metal reinforcing elements. The invention also includes certain compounds which may be employed in the method as well as concrete structures containing the compounds. In another embodiment of the invention, concrete structures may be rehabilitated by providing an overlay containing a compound of the type which will contribute to corrosion resistance either through chloride ion sequestering or creating barriers around metal structural elements with the overlay being provided in situ or as a preformed member and with possible use of a slurry in combination with an overlay segment.
Abstract:
A water disintegratable package which includes a solid water soluble salt of hydrazine whereby the package can be added to water to effect disintegration of the package to release the hydrazine salt for solubilization in the water to thereby provide for corrosion protection in aqueous systems.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for inhibiting corrosion of iron or steel such as reinforcing bars etc. placed in cement products such as paste, mortar and concrete containing a chloride which comprises adding a nitrite and a phosphoric ester, a nitrite and a boric ester or a nitrite and a mixture of a phosphoric ester and a boric ester to the cement.
Abstract:
The tendency of polyphosphate liquids to corrode aluminum is inhibited by incorporating into the liquid a minor effective amount of an iron cyanide blue, either ferric ferrocyanide or ferrous ferricyanide.
Abstract:
Delayed failure of high-strength steel alloys exposed to compositions containing hydrazine is prevented by addition of potassium hydroxide to the composition in an amount at least sufficient to neutralize acidic impurities. The removal of the acidic impurities eliminates evolution of hydrogen and thus avoids hydrogen embrittlement of the high-strength steel alloys.
Abstract:
Ferrous and aluminum metal corrosion by an aqueous solution of ammoniated superphosphoric acid is inhibited by incorporating about 0.5-5 percent by weight of nitrate ion based on the total phosphorous content measured as P2O5. The aqueous solution, which is useful as a ruminant feed supplement, has a pH of 5-8, a nitrogen content of 9-12 percent by weight, and a total phosphorous content measured as P2O5 of 28-39 percent by weight.
