摘要:
The present invention provides a hydrophilized cellulose fiber producing method, comprising oxidizing cellulose fibers in a reaction solution containing a N-oxyl compound, an oxidizing agent, and a co-catalyst and oxidizing other cellulose fibers using the reaction solution again. The present invention relates to a hydrophilized cellulose fiber producing method, comprising the steps of: (1a) oxidizing cellulose fibers in a reaction solution containing a N-oxyl compound, an oxidizing agent, and sodium sulfate to provide oxidized cellulose fibers; and (1b) separating the obtained oxidized cellulose fibers from the reaction solution, and then adding other additional cellulose fibers and oxidizing agent to the reaction solution to oxidize the cellulose fibers again to provide oxidized cellulose fibers.

Durable stretch fabrics are made and processed from one or more crosslinked, heat-resistant olefin elastic fibers, e.g., a substantially linear, homogeneously branched ethylene polymer. The fabrics can be made by any process, e.g., weaving, knitting, etc., and from any combination of crosslinked, heat-resistant olefin elastic and inelastic (“hard”) fibers, e.g., cotton and wool. These fabrics exhibit excellent chemical, e.g., chlorine, resistance and durability, e.g., they retain their shape and feel (“hand”) over repeated exposure to processing conditions, e.g., stone-washing, dye-stripping, PET-dyeing and the like, and service conditions, e.g., washing, drying, etc.

Fibrillation of certain cellulosic fibres has been widely studied, and fibrillation can be utilised to improve fabric performance, for example strength, absorbency, surface area together with handle and opacity. However, it believed that keratinous fibres such as wool have not been treated in this way. The invention seeks to provide a fibrillated keratinous fibre fabric and a method of fibrillating natural fibres. A textile fabric of keratinous fibre is disclosed characterised by the presence of fibrils, micro-fibrils and proto-fibrils. The fibrils may be further characterised as having diameters in the range 3 nullm to 5 nullm and by having lengths in the range 25 nullm to 60 nullm. Preferably, the fabric is a woven, knitted, non-woven or composite fabric. A method of treating natural fibres is also disclosed which comprises:- a pre-treatment to remove surface lipid materials or scales, e.g. using an oxidising agent; a treatment to remove or partially remove intercellular cement, e.g. using an enzyme; and the application of mechanical agitation under aqueous conditions, e.g. hydroentanglement, to complete fibrillation.

A method of forming a crosslinked cellulose product is disclosed wherein cellulose fibers are exposed to a solution that includes a catalyst and a crosslinking agent selected from the group consisting of a cyclic N-sulfatoimide or cyclic N-phosphatoimide; a dimethoxyethanal; a mixture of glyoxal and imidazolidone; a diethanol; or a periodate. Specific examples of the crosslinking agents of the present invention include pyridinium N-sulfatosuccinimide; 2,2'-sulfonyldiethanol; sodium periodate; a mixture of dimethoxyethanal and urea; and a mixture of glyoxal and 2-imidazolidone. An acid or base catalyst, as appropriate, may be used with the crosslinking agent to increase the crosslinking reaction rate. In especially preferred embodiments, cellulose fibers are exposed to the crosslinking agent and catalyst, then separated into individualized fibers in a fiberizer. The individualized fibers are then dried and cured at an elevated temperature such that intrafiber cellulose crosslinking bonds are formed to the substantial exclusion of interfiber bonds. The resulting cellulose fibers have high absorbency, bulk, and wet and dry resiliency that makes them suitable for use in such cellulose products as paper towels, diapers, and sanitary products.

According to the invention disclosed herein wool sliver may be effectively shrinkproofed by immersing the sliver continuously into a bath of shrinkproofing solution to a depth of at least 1 meter if said sliver is carried down into said solution within 10.degree. of vertical. According to the invention the most useful solution is an aqueous solution into which chlorine gas has been aspirated. An apparatus according to the invention comprises a substantially U-shaped bath having a depth exceeding 1 meter and equipped with means to convey wool sliver into said bath within 10.degree. of vertical.
