Abstract:
The invention relates to an aqueous insolubilizer composition intended for the surface treatment of paper and cardboard, comprising a mixture composed of glyoxal and of at least one alkali metal orthophosphate, and also its use.
Abstract:
Electrical insulating paper according to an embodiment of the present invention is used while being immersed in electrical insulating oil, and includes a paper base material mainly containing cellulose, an adsorption layer formed on an entire surface of the paper base material by adsorption, and a moisture barrier layer formed by being chemically bonded to the adsorption layer. The moisture barrier layer includes an amphipathic molecule containing both a hydrophobic hydrocarbon group and a hydrophilic functional group in one molecule. The amphipathic molecule is chemically bonded to the adsorption layer via the hydrophilic functional group. The hydrophobic hydrocarbon group covers the surface of the paper base material.
Abstract:
Decorated sheets on the basis of cellulose non-woven fabrics, such as paper, for the production of decorated laminates are impregnated with synthetic resins. Consequently, their sizes are changed, they become brittle and are not water-resistant in the laminate. In the method according to the invention the printed or unprinted non-woven fabrics are impregnated with an aqueous dispersion of a polymer which is cross-linkable by UV radiation, dried and optionally printed and finally irradiated with UV radiation. The decorated sheets thus obtained are water-resistant in the laminate and can be coiled up and stored after each process step.
Abstract:
An apparatus for impregnating web material with thermally curable impregnating resin, The apparatus includes an impregnating trough in which the web material is brought into contact with the impregnating resin and an inlet line which leads to the impregnating trough and through which the impregnating resin is introduced into the impregnating trough. The apparatus also includes a heating device structured and arranged for heating the impregnating resin, wherein the heating device is associated with the inlet line and heats the impregnating resin in the inlet line.
Abstract:
Water-free compositions suitable for application as a surface size to a cellulosic substrate, and methods of applying the water-free compositions to the surface of a cellulosic substrate.
Abstract:
A method is provided for preventing, minimizing, and/or eliminating the migration of mineral oils from paper food packaging into packaged food. The method can include adding a copper-containing oxidase enzyme, such as a laccase enzyme, to a paper pulp from which the paper food packaging is to be formed. The migration of mineral oils originating from residual inks in recycled old corrugated containers and old newsprint, is particularly suppressed, including the migration of C10-C25 fractions of aromatic mineral oil hydrocarbons and of saturated mineral oil hydrocarbons.
Abstract:
A paper tissue and products made from paper tissue, such as paper handkerchiefs, facial tissues, bath and cosmetic tissues, paper tissue wipes of any kinds and the like. The invention describes both the process for making a smooth and absorbent lotioned paper tissue, with high transferability of the lotion. The process steps comprises the steps of (a) providing a paper tissue web continuously moving next to a lotion application unit comprising at least one rotating surface, (b) transferring said lotion onto one rotating surface, (c) expulsing said lotion from the said rotating surface into a stream of lotion droplets, by primarily the centrifugal force of the rotation of said rotating surface, (d) intercepting said paper tissue with said stream of lotion droplets. The invention also describes a paper tissue comprising a lotion distributed as discrete deposits on its surface. The deposits have a high local concentration of lotion and cover a relatively small area of the tissue.

The invention relates to an aqueous insolubilizer composition intended for the surface treatment of paper and cardboard, comprising a mixture composed of glyoxal and of at least one alkali metal orthophosphate, and also its use.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition for surface coloration of paper web comprising a) from 0.1 to 30% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of a coloring pigment, b) from 0.1 to 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition of a starch/latex copolymer, characterized in that, in addition to starch, the monomeric components that are copolymerized comprise i) styrene or a substituted styrene, ii) an acrylate and/or methacrylate and, optionally, iii) one or more further ethylenically unsaturated monomers, c) from 0 to 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of starch or a starch derivative, d) from 0 to 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition of one or more auxiliaries and e) water to complete to 100% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition.
Abstract:
Provided are compositions and methods of deacidifying a cellulose-based material. The compositions include a hydrohalo-olefin and a deacidification agent dispersed within the hydrohalo-olefin. Cellulose-based materials are contacted with the composition for a sufficient time to increase the pH of the material.
