Abstract:
A dewatering roll (10) comprises a roll body (20), a mantle support structure (30) and a mantle (40). The mantle support structure (30) is attached around the roll body (20). The mantle (40) is attached against an outer surface (36) of the mantle support structure (30). The mantle (40) has a plurality of through holes (42) constituting mantle flow paths (44). The mantle support structure (30) presents support flow paths (38) from the outer surface (36) of the mantle support structure (30). The support flow paths (38) are in fluid contact with the mantle flow paths (44). The outer surface (36) of the mantle support structure (30) has a static geometric shape defining an envelope having a smaller radius in vicinity of each axial end (15) than in vicinity of a centre (16). Thereby, the inner surface (48) of the mantle (44) assumes the shape of the envelope.
Abstract:
Arrangement 1 for washing and dewatering a fiber pulp suspension, which arrangement comprises two hollow, circular-cylindrical screen members 2a, 2b delimited by envelope surface and end walls. The screen members rotate towards each other to form a nip 10, at least one of the said screen members 2a, 2b being arranged in a vat 6 which partially encloses the envelope of the screen member and which, in the direction of rotation of the screen member, converges towards the envelope of the screen member. The invention relates to a sealing arrangement 8 at the end wall of the screen member. By retracting the seal a distance X from the envelope surface of the screen member in a limited area &agr; near the nip 10, the seal is relieved of the very high hydraulic and mechanical pressures which occur in the nip. Wear between the end wall of the drum and the seal at the press nip is reduced. A simple pressurized seal can thus be used with the same low pressure applied along the entire circumference.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for fibrous suspensions in the wood processing industry and more specifically to a so-called drum cylinder, the basic construction of which comprises a vessel, into which suspension being thickened is supplied and a wire-surface cylinder rotating in the vessel. The drum filter is characterized in that the closure member of the drum filter has a channel for leading gas from the filtrate tubes through the compartments of the distribution chamber to the outside of the closing member. The method is characterized in that the operation phase of the filter cylinder is divided into five separate stages. In the first stage, when the cylinder descends on to the vessel, air and the initial filtrate are discharged from the filtrate components and the formation of the pulp web on the wire surface begins. In the second stage, filtrate is discharged with vacuum and the formation of the pulp web continues. In the third stage, pulp web is dried by means of vacuum when said part of the web has risen with the cylinder from the vessel. In the fourth stage, a so-called removal stage, the pulp web is removed from the wire surface and discharged from the apparatus. In the fifth stage, a so-called washing stage, the wire surface is washed.
Abstract:
Device for the washing and dewatering a fibrous suspension, which device incorporates two hollow, circular cylindrical filter drums (1), which filter drums incorporate evacuation chambers inside the-filter drums for evacuation of fluid. The filter drums rotate in opposite directions to create a pinch (2) where at least one of the said filter drums (1) is installed in a trough (7,8) which partly encloses the outer surface (3) of the filter drum and which, in the direction of rotation of the filter drum, converges towards the outer surface of the filter drum. At least one pulp inflow chamber (4) is installed at the highest point (1) of one or both of the filter drums each equipped with a trough for the introduction of pulp between the outer surfaces (3) of the filter drum and its trough (7,8) for the formation of a fibrous web. The trough (7,8) is designed to enclose the outer surface (3) of the filter drum, from the inflow chamber (4) and further round at least 230° of the circumference of the outer surface, so that the said fibrous web during operation is constrained to run between the filter drum's outer surface (3) and the trough (7,8) round at least 230° of the circumference of the outer surface before the fibrous web reaches the pinch (2).

Abstract:
A method for recovery of wastewater residues containing the activated sludge biomass, fibre and bark comprising the steps of treating these with alkali solution having a concentration of 5-80 g/l on the Na.sub.2 O basis at a temperature of 20.degree.-70.degree. C. and dewatering the reaction mixture obtained, the alkali filtrate decanted containing the activated sludge alkali hydrolysis products being used to dissolve the melt in the course of preparing the alkali pulping liquor, and the dewatered alkali mass being added, in an amount of up to 40 percent by mass, to the fibred mass composition for the manufacture of cardboard and wood-fibre board.
Abstract:
A device for washing and dewatering a fiber pulp suspension. The device has two hollow, circular-cylindrical screen members that contain evacuation chambers for conducting away liquid. The screen members rotate towards each other for the purpose of forming a nip. At least one of the screen members is arranged in a trough which partially encloses the casing and which converges towards the casing in the direction of rotation of the screen member. At least one pulp inlet box is arranged at the highest point of the screen members for the purpose of introducing pulp between the casing the trough. The pulp inlet box is provided with a pressure equalization section in which a certain equalization of irregularities in pulp qualities takes place before the pulp is fed into the actual washing or dewatering gap.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for filtering pulp fibers from a pulp slurry, using a combination of vacuum, hydrodynamic and hydrostatic forces in order to achieve a more effective deposition of pulp fibers onto the filter surface and enhanced flow of filtrate through the cylinder. The apparatus is in the form of an improved vacuum filtration system, in which the filtrate outlet tube is disposed along the axis of rotation of the rotary cylinder and the filtrate inlet and outlet ports of each filtrate conduct are radially offset from one another in the direction of intended rotation of the cylinder. During various phases of filter operation, vacuum forces generated by the vacuum source cooperate with either hydrodynamically or hydrostatically generated forces, which together act upon columns of filtrate in the filtrate conduits as the cylinder rotates.
Abstract:
An apparatus for treating a fiber suspension, comprises a drum rotatably journalled to a stand and having an envelope surface to support a fiber web formed from the fiber suspension. A curved wall plate which is concave in the direction to the envelope surface of the drum is spaced from the envelope surface (and generally parallel thereto) to define a material space therebetween for said fiber web. The space includes an axial inlet gap and an axial outlet gap. The wall is continuous and encloses a major portion of the envelope surface of the drum and is arranged to move freely in the circumferential direction of the drum to compensate for radial alterations during adjustment of the distance of the wall from the envelope surface at one or more positions between the inlet gap and outlet gap. Adjustment devices cooperate with the wall for adjusting the distance of the wall from the envelope surface of the drum. A support is joined to the stand for carrying the adjustment devices, each of the adjustment devices acting on and influencing a section, and only a section, of the wall and comprising a connection element positioned at the outer surface of the wall within the wall section.
