A mold having a projection to define a concrete surface of the channel is positioned beneath a top portion of the frame and configured to be received in a hollow mating portion of a laterally-reciprocating piston to shape the received concrete. A lever driver drives the reciprocating piston through a mechanically-linked motor. A vibrator cooperates with the concrete-receiving hopper to urge received concrete into the ditch to be shaped by the mold.

An apparatus and method are disclosed for the installation of a drain field using a bin that receives an aggregate fill material and has an outlet for releasing the fill material into a trench to create a layer of the aggregate. A guide within the bin receives a corrugated drain field pipe and positions the pipe into the center of the fill material. The apparatus is propelled forward on a pair of gauge wheels using a backhoe or motorized means and causes the fill material to be released and the pipe laid therein. A roller on the rear of the bin places a layer of water absorbent geotextile material atop the aggregate as the apparatus moves forward.

A device for installing horizontal drains in a coal combustion residual or other sludge pond consists of a trenching device that extends downwardly to the depth of required installation of the drains and an attachment through which the drains are fed during installation. The trenching device and attachment are mounted onto a carrier for floatation of the required equipment on the surface of a water-filled sludge pond. The carrier can be winched, hauled or driven across the surface of the sludge. A hydraulic system may be used to raise and lower the trenching device and attachment. The trenching device may be equipped with a chain driven blade mechanism or dredging device for the purpose of cutting a trench into the pond sludge, and a vibratory trenching device may be used to effectively liquefy the material to make the trenching device easier to pull or tow through the sludge in the pond.

The base clip, which connects the system to the ground surface, is connected to a bottom end of the channeled drain fixture. The cap is continuously connected along the channeled drain fixture from a top end of the channeled drain fixture. The cap may include a plurality of drain openings to provide additional drainage for the system. A portable pipe irrigation system that is used primarily for temporary drip and sprinkler installations includes a unique trailer that comprises a platform which simplifies installation and removal of the irrigation system. The trailer is either self propelled or pulled by a tractor. A magazine in the central portion of the trailer is of a sufficient length to accommodate pipe of various lengths and cross sections. A work platform is located at either end of the magazine, allowing workers to manipulate the pipe in the magazine and load the pipe into one of two installation chutes. Catwalks are located on one or both sides of the magazine. Two chutes or channels are located on the platform at a comfortable work level. A primary chute is located closest to the magazine and is fitted with a fixed stop on the front end and a pushing lever on the rear end. A secondary chute is provided for final assembly of the pipe sections. The secondary chute has a lever of a much longer radius that travels along the length of the chute. The two chutes define work areas where the pipe sections are assembled or disassembled. At the rear of the trailer/platform are outriggers that assist in the accurate placement of pipe in the field.

The methods and systems utilize a secured pipe system having a leading edge to drill the system into the earth, and perforations along portions of the surface of the system to receive accumulated water from underground and deliver it to the surface. A pipe cradle guide as provided is useful in the installation of the system. To also inject soil stabilizing materials (a mixture of sand and gel) into the earth using the secured pipe system, a removable canister is coupled to the distal end of the pipe system, and using water pressure the soil stabilizing materials are delivered to the soil by means of the secured pipe system.
