    摘要: A horizontal directional drill has a wrench assembly and a lubricant application assembly. The wrench assembly operates to make-up and break out pipe segments from a drill string while the lubricant application assembly applies lubricant to the pipe joints. The wrench assembly has a rotatable wrench and a stationary wrench for applying torque to pipe joints. Each of these wrenches is substantially vertically oriented, with a movable upper jaw and a stationary lower jaw. Lubricant pressure is maintained in the application assembly with a pump and a follower weight disposed on the surface of a storage container.

    摘要: A device that excavates soil from beneath buried utility pipe. The excavated soil is pushed out using a piston shaft actuated ram's head. The piston shaft is attached to a power shovel's bucket. The piston shaft is hydraulically operated. Soil from the excavated area, when pushed out, falls into a previously dug opposite trench that is deeper than the bucket side trench where the shovel bucket is positioned for the pushing operation. Once the soil is pushed out from beneath buried pipe, the pipe is now accessible for inspections.

    摘要: An attachment is provided for us on an articulated boom of an excavator in order to excavate earth from beneath a buried pipeline or other utility. The attachment features at least one working arm pivotally mounted to a base plate for movement relative to the base plate about an axis passing therethrough. A working end of the arm is thereby movable between a retracted position overlying the base plate and a deployed position reaching laterally outward from an edge of the base plate. With the excavator facing in a longitudinal direction of the utility, and the attachment carried beside the utility at a short depth therebelow by the boom of the excavator, the arm can be deployed and retracted in order to sweep material out from under the pipeline and onto the base plate. The material is then lifted to the surface by raising of the excavator boom.

    摘要: A plow assembly for forming a trench within soil of a selected land area. The plow assembly has a blade element, a displacement element, and an attachment element that permits attachment of the plow assembly to a vehicle, such as a tractor. A first end of the displacement element is secured to a distal end of the blade element, and a second end of the displacement element is spaced from a rear edge of the blade element and connected to a pipe. As the plow assembly is advanced within soil, the cutting edge of the blade element cuts through the soil and the displacement element displaces the soil to form the trench and pulls the pipe into the trench as the trench is formed.
