摘要: A method of supplying water from a well is provided. The method includes the following steps. First, a supply apparatus is provided that includes a container having first and second ends and a first chamber extending to a first opening in the second end. The supply apparatus also has a first fluid conduit with a first branch for use in transporting the water from the first chamber. Next, at least a portion of the second end of the container is submerged within the water in the well such that the first chamber contains a quantity of air. Then, at least a portion of the quantity of air from the first chamber is removed by an air compressor thereby drawing a vacuum within the first chamber. The vacuum in turn draws a quantity of water from the well into the first chamber through the first opening. Next, the removal of air from the first chamber is stopped when the water has obtained a first predetermined level within the first chamber. The first opening is then closed. Compressed air is supplied to the first chamber from the air compressor above the first predetermined level of water thereby forcing at least a portion of the quantity of water out of the first chamber and through the first branch of the first fluid conduit. Finally, the supply of compressed air to the first chamber is stopped when the water has obtained a second predetermined level within the first chamber. In another embodiment the container has two chambers permitting continuous supply of water.

摘要: A dye-fixing process which follows the treatment of lengths of materials containing synthetic fibers, such as polyester and polyamide fibers, with dyes, including dispersion dyes, said process comprising the steps of heating a dried dye-carrying length of material with pure steam or a steam-air mixture containing over 75 percent steam by volume by condensation of steam to a saturation temperature of substantially 90* to 100* C., then heating said length of material with media having heattransmission values of at least 50 k. cal./m2/*C. /h. by a heating curve which is a continuously increasing temperature of the fabric and which approaches asymptotically and then reaches a fixing and treating temperature of at least 150* C., the heat flux being determined by measuring temperatures, duration, length surfaces as well as average flow amounts and speeds, and then subjecting the material to a continuous thermostorage treatment at said treating temperature for a time period ranging between 10 and 100 seconds.

摘要: A groundwater barrier system for preventing the generally lateral, subterranean migration of water (including both liquid and gaseous fluids) beyond an established perimeter, while providing controlled collection of same for use. The present system utilizes a barrier wall, which is formed in-ground via non-permeable membrane in sheet/roll/panel or slurry (materials can include bentonite clay). The present system will be configured to intersect the flow path of the groundwater to be routed to enhance containment or collection of the fluid. In use, the barrier of the present invention is installed by first making an excavation to accommodate the barrier system. The excavation and barrier wall is implemented to a depth so as to allow for the maximum interception with the established water table to be contained or collected, and/or processed based on benefit vs cost analysis. The barrier can also be used to prevent contaminants (including saltwater) from entering surficial freshwater aquifers.

摘要: An apparatus is provided for drilling concurrently a plurality of wells within a laterally confined area. The confines of the drilling apparatus employ a structure having vertically extending walls rising from a drilling floor. A plurality of wells are drilled, each employing a separate rotary drilling table and a separate draw work assembly mounted in vertical displacement from the drilling table associated there with. Preferably, the individual draw work assemblies associated with separate one of the rotary drilling tables are utilized only to feed drilling pipe assemblies into the well and to aid in the actual drilling operation. To withdraw drilling pipe assemblies, a master draw works is provided and is mounted vertically above the draw work assemblies associated with particular rotary drilling tables. In addition, the draw work assemblies are preferably located on bridges which are rotatably mounted with respect to an upright central support, so that the bridges are rotatable about the upright support and carriages forming part of the draw works are movable along the bridges so that the carriages may be moved both radially and rotationally relative to the upright support. The confining structure of the vertically extending walls renders the well drilling apparatus suitable for construction for use in drilling wells on the floor of a body of water and also for use in drilling a plurality of wells in a highly urbanized areas. This versatility is achieved by constructing the well drilling apparatus with exterior walls of the confining structure in the form of a facade, to resemble a commercial building or in the form of a water resistant cassion that may be lowered into a body of water to extend from the floor to the surface thereof.

摘要: A baffle apparatus and method for use in a well to mitigate convective in-well flow. The baffle apparatus includes a baffle member attached to a rod. The baffle member prevents vertical flow of water in the well after the baffle apparatus is deployed in the well. At least one centralizer is attached to the rod to maintain correct orientation of the baffle member within the well. The baffle member and the at least one centralizer allow well water to pass during deployment and recovery of the baffle apparatus.

摘要: A water supply system has its housing and pressure tank sized so that the pressure tank fits within the housing, thus avoiding the need for another separate opening in the ground for the pressure tank. With this arrangement, there is less work in installation of the system and in maintaining the system. A control box for the system can be in the housing near the top where it is accessible or it can be separate. Preferably, the pump will be driven by a variable speed pump or a stop cycle valve will be used. Preferably, the pressure tank has a capacity of less than 40 gallons and the housing has an enlarged portion and a reduced portion with the pressure tank being mounted within said enlarged portion of said housing. The enlarged portion of the housing has an enlarged portion bottom surface and the reduced portion of said housing has a reduced portion bottom surface with the reduced portion of said housing being integrally formed with said enlarged portion bottom surface and extending downwardly therefrom and the conduit is adapted to be connected to a pumping system within a well casing and extends through the reduced portion bottom surface for supplying water to the pressure tank.
