摘要: A true retrofit hurricane and earthquake clip for connecting the roof rafter, to the outside sheathing and underlying top plate. The connector is composed of sheet metal including a base web and top web, connected by an arched saddle. The wide base web has a left and right side with nail holes for fastening to the outside sheathing. The base web holds the sheathing securely to the wall and prevents bowing out and lateral movement. The top web has left and right sides with nail holes for fastening to the widest edges of a rafter preventing uplift, outward thrusting, and twisting. The saddle connects the top web and base web, and forms a cradle for the bottom of the rafter. The angled saddle avoids any demolition of frieze boards or trim on the house, making for effortless installation. The connector is easily installed by a homeowner on existing houses with the saddle clasping the rafter and outside sheathing. The saddle adds stability, limits twisting, prevents the wall from bowing out, and makes the connector practically invisible from the side of the house.

摘要: A method and an apparatus for attachment provide enhanced connecting integrity between various structural components. The method and apparatus have particular applicability in connection with connecting a post for a deck. The post is connected directly or indirectly by a connecting device which is secured against the surface of the post and to a surface of a joist loaded in shear. An anchor member may be fastened to the side of a joist and threadably receive a fastener which extends through a bore and, at the opposite end, is secured against the outside surface of a second joist. Connecting devices which employ L-shaped shank members are also employed. Transportable buildings and building kits comprising connecting assemblies of the invention are also included.

摘要: A structural mounting connector or spigot for mounting a glazing frame section to a structure. The connector has a mounting section receivable within a void or hollow end of a glazing frame section, which mounting section has an upper flange or surface and a lower flange or surface for accepting vertical fasteners such as screws or pins which attach the connector to the glazing frame section. The connector also has a connecting web between the top and bottom flanges which contain elongated cavities or passageways for receiving other fasteners, such as screws or bolts, by which the mounting spigot section is affixed to a structure. The connecting web has projections which have guide means to guide the vertical screws or pins between the top and bottom flanges portions such that the mounting spigot section is connectable to the glazing frame section and the glazing frame section to the structure, with the mounting spigot section and fasteners being concealed in the glazing frame section. The mounting spigot section is able to be cut to length and shape by a single cut taken in the same plane as the cut in the glazing frame section to produce an angled join of the glazing frame section to and flush with the structure.

摘要: A modular building panel having an inner frame, an exterior planar surface, an interior planar surface parallel with but separated from the exterior planar surface by the frame, a generally hollow core disposed between the exterior and interior surfaces, a first side with a longitudinally aligned incurvate aperture, a second side parallel to the first side with a lateral projection congruent with the incurvate aperture, the first and second sides being configured to form an interlocking joint when a lateral projection is coupled with an incurvate aperture and one or more weather seals longitudinally disposed along at least a portion of the interlocking joint. The modular panels may be configured as either wall or roofing panel.

摘要: A tensioned structure such as a house is disclosed. The house includes at least one wall panel placed under tension by bending the wall panel from a flat form to a curved form. The tension provides rigidity and thus strength to the wall panel. In a preferred form, the house includes two tensioned wall panels with the concave faces of the wall panels confronting each other such that a generally circular residential house is formed. A counter to oppose the tension engages the wall panels. The counter may include a roof or rafter support network, a portion of the floor or floor support, the wall panels themselves where the end edges of the wall panels are engaged to each other, or stainless steel straps running about the wall panels. The wall panel may be include material such as oriented strand board, steel, cement, plastic, or organic material such as grass. Further disclosed are methods for constructing the house and for bending without breaking material such as oriented strand board where the material is bent from a flat form to a curved form to place the material under tension so as to provide rigidity and strength to the structure having the tensioned sheet of material.
