The present invention relates to improvements to building construction. Particularly, the present invention relates to a structural unit for the use in building construction of floors, roofs and walls of a building. There is provided a structural unit for a building comprising: at least one truss; at least one fibrous cementitious building element; and at least one connection member configured to connect the at least one truss to the at least one fibrous cementitious building element, wherein, the connection member is integral with the building element and accessible for connection of the at least one truss to the building element. Also claimed is a method of constructing the structural unit.

Building or construction members are provided which include wooden girders or beams which form a framework onto which is molded a concrete plate or slab. A connection is formed between the beams and the concrete slab at least one sheet metal strip (4) having on one edge clips in the form of indentations (5) provided with teeth (6) and on the other edge with bent portions (9) constituting a flanged edge. On the flank of the sheet there are stamped portions (7) forming projections and cut portions (8) forming openings issuing onto the edge on which is formed the flanged edge (9). The indentations (5) provided with the teeth (6) are anchored in the beam (1), while the openings are permitting the passage and retaining of metal fittings (3). The flanged edges (9), the stamped portions (7) and the enlargements (8) participate in the anchoring of the metal sheet (4) in the concrete slab (2).

A built-up support member for carrying bending loads is used in building construction. The support member is formed of two separate elements (1, 2), one superimposed on the other. The separate elements absorb normal forces caused by bending loads. One of the elements (2), for example formed of concrete, acts in compression, while the other acts in tension. Shear forces must be transmitted between the separate elements. Shear transmission surfaces afford a positively locked connection of the separate elements. The shear transmission surfaces include cooperating and complementary shaped projections and recesses. In addition, clamping elements (15) are provided between the separate elements in a prestressed manner.

The reliable shear withdrawal connection system comprises a headed connector mechanically fastened to a steel, concrete or wooden girder, a wood-based deck panel having a receiver hole bored therein, and a grout agent deposited throughout the receiver hole. The deck connection system enables top-side installation of deck panels and provides improved shear strength, withdrawal resistance, reliability and fatigue behavior of the wooden deck system.

The connector assembly is capable of resisting shear forces between the structural component and the concrete body. The connector assembly includes a connector adapted to be embedded in concrete and adapted to be attached to the structural component, and a connector element that is adapted to surround the connector and form a barrier that is spaced from the connector and confines concrete around the connector.
