    摘要: A system (10) for drilling a borehole (14) in a subterranean formation (16) containing a fluid (18), comprising: an outer tube (24) defining an outer tube distal end (26) configured for attaching a drill bit (12) thereto and a flow controller receiving section (27) spaced apart therefrom; a flow controller (28) including a flow controller body (30) defining body proximal and distal ends (32 and 34) and securable to the outer tube (24) in the flow controller receiving section (27); and a drilling accessory (36) insertable in the outer tube (24) and through the flow controller (28). The flow controller (28) is movable between open and closed configurations. In the open configuration, the flow controller (28) allows passage of the drilling accessory (36) therethrough. In the closed configuration, the flow controller (28) hinders flow of the fluid therethrough towards the borehole proximal end (20) when the flow controller (28) is located closer to the borehole proximal end (20) than the fluid (18).

The method may include conveying a sampling tool in a borehole using a first carrier, conveying a sample container in the borehole using a second carrier, and introducing a downhole sample from the sampling tool to the sample container. An apparatus includes a sampling tool disposed on a first carrier, a sample container disposed on a second carrier, wherein the first carrier and the second carrier are independently conveyable in a borehole, and a coupling connectable to the sampling tool and the sample container.

    摘要: A nipple is provided downhole as part of a tubing (drill string or production) string. The nipple has an interior passage with recesses therein and a seat. A data probe attached to a wireline traverses inside of the tubing from the surface to the nipple. The probe has a seal that seats inside of the nipple. The probe shuts in the well to allow formation fluid pressure to build. A first latch deploys into one of the recesses to retain the seal in place against the pressure. A bypass around the seal is provided. The bypass is kept closed against the pressure by a second latch that deploys into the other nipple recess. When the probe is to be retrieved to the surface, the bypass is opened to allow the pressure across the seal to equalize. The bypass is opened by unlatching the second latch. The seal is unseated by unlatching the first latch. The first and second latches are connected in series so as to operate sequentially, with the first latch deploying before the second latch. The probe has instrumentation and a sampling chamber which can be brought to the surface during flow periods of a test.

    摘要: A coupler interconnecting casings through which can move instruments for taking measurements and samples for geological, geophysical and other purposes. The coupler is a tube having opposite ends registering with and connected to measuring casings. A sealing connecting element is provided between the tube ends and the adjacent casing ends. A measuring port in the tube wall is normally closed by a valve which is operable from within the tube to open the port. A stop arrangement in the tube is so positioned relative to the measuring port as to stop an instrument in the tube in correct operating position at the port for taking measurements or samples through the port. In a broader sense, the measuring port and valve can be omitted, in which case the stop arrangement stops the instrument at a desired position for measuring or other purposes.

    摘要: A well completion system includes tubing, and packers that seal the annulus of the well outside the tubing. The packers are spaced to define voids in the annulus that are substantially free from hydrostatic pressure. Also included are hollow sleeve valves having upper and lower sealing elements, and that have closed and open positions. Each sleeve valve is positioned within the tubing at a depth corresponding to a void in the annulus. Ports extend through the sleeve valve and tubing, so that when the sleeve valve is closed, the port is closed, and when the sleeve valve is open, the port is open. Also included is a sampling tool having top and bottom sealing elements, the bottom sealing element for engaging the lower sealing element of a sleeve valve, and the top sealing element for engaging the upper sealing element of the sleeve valve when the sleeve valve is open.
