    摘要: An oil tank system for an engine capable of reducing the overall height of an engine is disclosed. Breather chambers of a dry sump type engine in which an oil tank for storing engine oil is provided independently from the engine are defined in an oil tank. The breather chambers and are in communication with the engine and a breather chamber section is partially partitioned into the first breather chamber and the second breather chamber with a gasket. An oil sump portion for accumulating oil during period of turn-over of a watercraft is formed in the first breather chamber. An oil return passage provided in the first breather chamber forms a breathing passage during a turn-over condition of the watercraft. A sump portion for oil which counter flows in the return passage during a turn-over condition of the watercraft is provided in an upper portion (lower portion during a turn-over condition) of the second breather chamber.

    摘要: To reduce the size and weight of an oil tank for a dry sump type lubricating system. A separate oil tank of a dry sump type lubricating system is mounted on the front surface of a front case cover constituting part of a crankcase divided into front and rear parts. An effective volume portion, in which oil supplied from the crankcase side via scavenging pumps and cooled by an oil cooler is contained, is provided in the oil tank. The bottom portion of the effective volume portion is connected to a feed pump on the crankcase side via an outlet side passage. A tank side pipe portion extending rearwardly through the oil tank is integrally provided at a portion of the oil tank higher than the oil level in the oil tank. The tank side pipe portion is connected to a crankcase side pipe portion integrally provided on an upper portion of the front case cover to form an overflow passage. The overflow passage functions as a pressure-equalization passage for equalizing the pressure in the oil tank with the pressure in the crankcase, and allows overflowed oil in the oil tank to readily flow into the crankcase through the upper portion of the front case cover.

    摘要: A single cylinder, internal combustion engine with a dry sump lubrication system. The engine includes an engine housing in which the overhead camshaft and crankshaft are rotatably supported, and the housing includes an integrally formed cylinder and head. A timing belt disposed externally of the engine housing interconnects the crankshaft and camshaft, and a piston connected to the crankshaft reciprocates within an internal bore provided in the engine housing cylinder. The cylinder wall around the internal bore is of a generally uniform thickness and circumscribed by cooling fins such that the cylinder resists bore distortion during operation. Dry sump lubrication is obtained by an external oil reservoir connected to a pump which supplies pressurized oil to the bearing journals of the camshaft. A portion of the oil at the camshaft bearing journals flows through passages provided within the cylinder to lubricate the bearing journals of the crankshaft. The reciprocating motion of the valve assemblies controlling intake and exhaust of the combustion chamber pumps the oil which lubricated the camshaft back to the external reservoir. The reciprocating motion of the piston similarly effects a high pressure within the crankcase cavity to pump oil which has lubricated the crankshaft back to the external reservoir. The inventive engine further provides for the mounting of flywheels within the crankcase cavity in conjunction with an external, lightweight fan for engine housing cooling, as well as employs a cast in valve seat for the overhead valve assemblies.

    摘要: A single cylinder, internal combustion engine with a dry sump lubrication system.
