摘要: In order to prevent lubricating oil from entering an intake system when an engine body is tilted downward while avoiding any increase in the engine dimensions, the engine body has first and second breather chambers, first and second through passages for providing communication between a crank chamber and the first and second breather chambers, respectively, and a communicating passage for providing communication between the first and second breather chambers. The second breather chamber is connected to the intake system via a guide pipe, an end of the second through passage that opens inside the crank chamber is positioned above the oil surface inside the crank chamber when the engine is tilted downward, and the route from the first through passage to the communicating passage via the first breather chamber is shaped so as to prevent the lubricating oil inside the crank chamber from entering the communicating passage.

摘要: An internal combustion engine with dry sump lubricating system includes a feed pump which supplies lubricating oil from a lubricating oil tank disposed outside an engine body to all moving parts in the engine. After circulating through the engine, the lubricating oil drops down into a crank chamber and is immediately picked up from the crank chamber and sent back into the lubricating oil tank by a recovery pump. Since the lubricating oil tank is attached to an end of the engine body from which a crankshaft project, it does not increase the overall width (dimension in the direction perpendicular to the axis of the crankshaft) and height of the engine. Even when the engine has inclined cylinders, the lubricating oil tank can avail a high degree of design freedom because the end face is not influenced by inclination of the cylinders as greatly as side surfaces of the engine body. The engine also includes a breather system so designed as to prevent an operation failure of the engine which would otherwise be caused due to inflow of the lubricating oil into an intake system of the engine.

The personal watercraft comprises: a four-cycle engine; a water jet pump driven by the engine, the water jet pump pressurizing and accelerating water taken in from outside of the watercraft and ejecting the water from the outlet port to propel the watercraft as a reaction of the ejecting water; a breather pipe configured such that a base end is connected to the engine to communicate with an inside of the engine, an intermediate portion is located lower than the base end, and a tip end is located higher than the base end; and a breather box, wherein the tip end of the breather pipe communicates with inside of the breather box and the base end of the breather pipe is located lower than the breather box.

摘要: An internal combustion engine has a crankcase, a crankshaft, a cylinder block, and cylinder head assembly. The cylinder block has at least one cylinder. At least one piston is disposed in the at least one cylinder. The at least one piston is operatively connected to the crankshaft. An oil tank enclosure is connected to at least one of the crankcase outer wall and the cylinder block outer wall. The oil tank enclosure and the at least one of the crankcase outer wall and the cylinder block outer wall together form an oil tank. The arrangement of the oil inlet, oil outlet, and blow-by gas outlet in an oil tank; an oil tank having an angled portion for separating blow-by gases from oil; and an arrangement of a blow-by gas passage connected to an oil tank are also described.

摘要: In a gas-liquid separation device in a vibrator engine according to the present invention, a crank chamber and a rocker chamber communicate with each other through an oil delivery passage, and a push rod chamber and the crank chamber communicate with each other through an oil chamber and an oil discharge port. Oil mist generated in the crank chamber flows into the rocker chamber through the oil delivery passage, as the oil discharge port begins to resist the flow. The mist flows into the push rod chamber after the mist is made into liquid for lubrication of parts to be lubricated. Thus, the oil is returned to the crank chamber from the oil delivery passage through the rocker chamber, the push rod chamber, and the oil chamber to form a circulating path. Accordingly, a larger quantity of oil than the required quantity is not stored in the rocker chamber, and a preferable amount of gas-liquid separation may be obtained even when effects caused by vigorous vertical vibration of a vibrator make the oil stored in the rocker chamber strongly shake.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a breather assembly for use in an internal combustion engine and a method of operating an internal combustion engine. In at least one embodiment, the breather assembly includes an input chamber for receiving blow-by gas, the input chamber bounded at least partially by a crankcase exterior, and a standpipe situated inside the input chamber for directing blow-by gas into the input chamber. Additionally, the breather assembly can include an input drainback passage situated inside the input chamber and an output chamber situated adjacent the input chamber, the chamber having an inner wall with a one-way valve that allows blow-by gas to flow from the input chamber to the output chamber. The breather assembly can also include an output drainback aperture situated in the inner wall and an output chamber housing that substantially encloses the output chamber and includes an exhaust port for exhausting blow-by gas.
